Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 27, Issue 18, December 17, 2019
From the PFC president
And so, here we are. The last few days of school before the end of the year. With the holidays upon us, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has devoted some of your time at Thornhill since the school year began. Whether it's been in your child's classroom, chaperoning a field trip, volunteering at the Walkathon, participating in the PFC, or organizing the clothes in the lost and found area, your involvement has been critical in keeping Thornhill running smoothly this year. And I hope this will continue in the rest of the school year ahead.
Happy Holidays and Mahalo,
Rex Crum

TK/K Coffee & Pastries with the Principal & PFC
TK/K Families,
Please join us for coffee and pastries on the morning of Thursday, December 19 in the TK yard. Principal Daubenspeck, members of the PFC, and the TK & Kindergarten teachers will be there with words of wisdom. We'll also have flyers with ways to become involved, ideas for kid crafts to get through those long vacation days and most importantly, other parents feeling very much like you - connect with each other in this easy way!
Whether this is your first or fourth child in TK/K, please join us to get and give support - one of the reasons you joined Thornhill Elementary. We're all in this together!
Warmly,
Thornhill Hospitality

Heads up: Auction donation forms!
The Thornhill Auction is coming up on Saturday, March 14, and its success relies on prize donations from businesses. The committee is working hard to secure lots of great items, but some of the best prizes come from Thornhill community members and their networks.
Donation forms will be going home this week, so please check your kids’ backpacks! Think about who you know, where you like to go, what connections you might have. Every little bit helps and the forms are easy to hand out to relatives after a few glasses of holiday beverages. Return them to the office, to your teacher, or email them directly to benefit@thornhillschool.org.
Tickets are going on sale soon... we will announce via Konstella!

Pizza Pizza
Thank you, Thornhill school community, for the awesome turnout at Zachary's pizza last week! The restaurant staff were blown away by our crowd and we raised $243.46 — that is a lot of pizza and the gift from Zachary's goes right back to our school. Thank you! Who is ready for a pizza showdown? Next up is Round Table on January 9 — please mark your calendars.

About the Thornhill Newsletter
The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Evie Nagy, at newsletter@thornhillschool.org by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances. It’s fine to include text in the body of the email with links and no formatting, and attach photos preferably as 150 x 150, 72 dpi JPG or GIFs only (not embedded in email or Word file). Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, brevity and clarity. Advertising and items not related to Thornhill are not accepted, as we need to keep the newsletter focused on need-to-know info for the community.
THANK YOU to everyone who submits articles and to PFC Board Members, Teachers, VP of Communications Erin Proudfoot, PFC President Rex Crum, and Principal Steve Daubenspeck. Member of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
