February 11th-14th
Highlights from our week:
Shared Reading - This week our class worked with two texts. We spent a few days reading Five Little Monkeys and Caps for Sale. Students discussed the events of each story, characters, and similarities. Students also completed a quiz on Seesaw that will be available for viewing by Friday afternoon.
Writing - This week students completed their writing projects. Students used their research about an animal of their choice to list facts, write a short conclusion, and create illustrations to go with their book. First grade students who finished their projects, shared them during the end of the day on Thursday. Some students who are not finished will continue this work next week. These writing projects will be graded using a standard rubric and will be sent home at the beginning of March.
Social Studies: This week students learned about Dental Health and how to take care of their teeth. Students viewed several informational videos about dental care and completed an assessment at the end of the short unit.
Math - This week students worked with 2D and 3D shapes. Our class worked together to identify shapes based on their number of sides, vertices (points), parallel lines, and similarities and differences between the 2D and 3D formats. Students will continue this identification process throughout the unit.
