W-FL BOCES SLS
July 2020
A note from Kate
Can you believe that it's the middle of August? As we prepare for the upcoming school year, hopefully you will find time to enjoy the summer sun these last few weeks.
This summer, districts in NYS and the W-FL region have submitted Re-opening Plans to NYSED for review and approval. While we work with different stakeholder groups to re-imagine what school (and libraries!) will look like as we begin the new school year, it is important to stay informed, positive and intentional in our work as librarians to support students, families and staff in our communities. As always, SLS is here to support the work of you and your districts!
SLS has been hard at work this summer migrating districts to Follett Destiny, independent Sora platforms and to Classlink or Clever for integration of resources. Please keep your eyes open for a survey to determine preferences for SLS Zoom rooms this fall and if you haven't already, please take a moment to complete the End of Year Survey (below):

Understanding Privilege & Advancing Racial Equity: 9/15
Recent events surrounding the unjust killing of Black Americans has created a moment of civil unrest and engagement which few of us have witnessed first-hand. We are called, as individuals and as organizations, to learn the history that has brought us to this moment. We must understand how bias and privilege affects the work we do and how we show up as colleagues, supervisors, mentors, and leaders. In this webinar, we’ll learn how each of us can act as allies and agents of change to create the racial equity called for by this moment.
