Give a Dose of Reality
Volunteer to help with Reality Store on Friday, April 18th! Reality Store, a real-life simulation exercise for all Woodford County seventh grade students, is designed to help students connect today’s academic achievement with tomorrow’s career, salary, and family expenses. To make Reality Store a positive learning experience, we need your help.
As a volunteer, you will be assigned to work at one of the Reality Store stations. Examples of the station themes include housing, transportation, food, medical/dental, and childcare. You will use a simple calculator to help students keep track of their checkbook balances as they try to meet the expenses of everyday life. Your training will take just a few minutes in the morning before the students arrive, and all of your supplies will be provided as well as a light breakfast and lunch.
With your help, this year’s Reality Store will be Friday, April 18, 2014, from 7:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in the Safe Harbor Gym(formally known as the Community Education Gym) located on the old Community Education campus at 134 Macey Avenue in Versailles. To volunteer, please email Sharon Cole atsharon.cole@woodford.kyschools.us or call her at 859-879-4628 as soon as possible. Eighty-five volunteers are needed to make Reality Store a reality, so please encourage your friends and co-workers to volunteer too!
Reality Store is a joint program of Woodford County Community Education and the Woodford County Cooperative Extension Service.
