THIS YEAR'S 5th GRADE MUSICAL - SIGN UP BY NOVEMBER 2
"DEAR EDWINA JUNIOR"
It gives me great pleasure to offer the 5th grade students an after-school experience that I hope they never forget. This year’s production is “Dear Edwina Jr.” Thirteen year old Edwina Spoonapple has very talented siblings. Because of this she feels she needs to prove that she is as talented as they are. Follow the adventures of advice- giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple as she directs the kids in the neighborhood in production number after hilarious production number in her "Advice-A-Palooza" extravaganza. Written in the style of Schoolhouse Rock and You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Dear Edwina Junior is the perfect kid power musical for a new generation.
For all the musical production information you must visit the 5th grade musical website. This site will give you instruction on how to move forward if your 5th grader decides to audition for this year's production.
We've received many questions that we hope we can answer here:
- To cast the musical, all kids must attend the auditions November 7 and November 9 which will consist of singing, acting, and dancing.
- Each child will be required to sing, at minimum, a 30 second verse or chorus of a kid-friendly song of their choice.
- Every child will sing in a group. There are about 9 students that will be chosen to sing solos in leading roles.
Please read through all of the information before making the decision to sign-up (Permission Slip/Contract is included on the site). The musical is a big commitment. If you have any questions after going through the information on the musical site please email me at jaime.steinbach@mansfieldschools.com

MESA'S FALL FOOD DRIVE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!
This year's food drive totals were amazing! JORDAN/JACKSON'S TOTAL FOOD COLLECTED: 3,102 LBS!! That's over 1.5 TONS!
Our Top 3 Classes
DeAngelis: 466.5 lbs!!!
Norige: 279 lbs!
Parker: 218.5 lbs!
Nine classes brought in over 100 lbs each. The highest 3rd grade total was Mrs. Franklin's class with 110.5 lbs!
MESA filled every box from the food pantry, which was supposed to be enough for Jordan/Jackson AND Robinson. They had to collect more boxes from local grocery stores before Robinson's collection. The food pantry has seen a greater need this year than ever before. A huge shoutout and thank you to MESA and all our families for supporting our local food pantry!

This month in Miss Steinbach's classroom, kids have been working on some fall themed songs. The fourth graders learned a couple of songs and in small groups created a little performance to go along with their songs. Students had the opportunity to bring in props from home to use while performing. Here are some pictures from Mr. Curry's and Mrs. Norige's performances.
iCARE Reading Volunteers Needed
Kim Piro is soliciting volunteers this year to serve as classroom readers to benefit her "iCARE” (Introducing Children to Acceptance through Reading and Education) program began 19 years ago to teach students in grades preschool thru 5 about their special needs peers. Books focus on a variety of different disabilities and are available in the school’s library.
If you are interested in volunteering, it can be very rewarding and takes as little as half an hour of your time. If you are an interested parent who would like to read one of these books to a classroom, please call/text Kim Piro at 781-630-0463 or email her at kimpiro20@gmail.com. You can also register to be a reader online at www.thejamiefund.org. Go to the website and click where it asks you to volunteer. Readings will start in January and go through February/March at all three elementary schools.
