Crazy Doc's rant and raves...
Quick hits:
- MAP season is here. Please be mindful as you pass through the hallways. All 3 -5 classes will be testing Tuesday - Thursday this week. i-Ready starts on Thursday as well.
- This fourth quarter stretch is a challenging time for students and teachers. Starting to see an increase in student behavior and a decrease in teacher patience. Please take time to check on your fellow teachers and lift one another up in this challenging time.
- Starting to brainstorm for next year. I will be coming to a team meeting soon to discuss/share some plans. Your feedback will help in developing our SAP for next year.
- If you have something cool going on in class and would like either Misty or I to see, please send us an invite. We love to go and see all the things happening in your room.
- There are several people on this list who have not entered anything, but I believe you have attended various times. Please make sure to get it entered. Don't forget to keep track of your extra event attendance. Please remember everyone is expected to attend one PTA Meeting this year plus 2 additional events: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xru7fuenf01e2mb01wCoQhbrDw_zVEI_wImMFI7wA1g/edit?usp=sharing
Teacher Spotlight
A huge thank you to #DaBinghamBoss for everything she does to make Bingham great, the school would not be the same without her! Thank you Ms. Terri!
Do you have a idea for a person in the spotlight? Please let me know.
FROM MISTY
Just a reminder to schedule EOY Tower visit with me so we can close that out (I've sent those specific teachers an email).
As I look at the calendar ahead, it's also hard to believe I only have 5 and a half days left with you all. It's extremely bitter sweet feeling this coming to an end. I hate to get all sappy on everyone, but you guys are a fantastic group of educators. I will greatly miss you all and hope I can swing by and visit. I sincerely wish the best for all of you, thanks for welcoming me, supporting me, and laughing with me.
Here are the days I will be here the remainder of the year:
Thursday, May 2nd
Friday, May 3rd (PM)
Monday, May 6th
Friday, May 10th
Thursday & Friday, May 16-17th
In the article below, they discuss the following: "Sensing summer break approaching, students begin to feel their age outpacing their grade level. They grow restless and excitable. They become bolder, testing the boundaries to see if they’re as firm as they once were. But it’s all avoidable. Here's how." If you are interested in reading more, it is linked in the button below.

EOY Assessments (MAP and iReady)
- All grades 3-8 will test 4/23/19 - 5/10/19
- Math will test second week
- 4/30/19 - 5/3/19
- Science 5th grade will test the 3rd week
- 5/7/19 - 5/10/19
- District testing window will close on 5/10/19
- Testing will take place in the mornings
- Buildings will need to be flexible with daily building schedules
- No testing on Mondays
- Meaningful breaks will be provided to students between testing sessions
- Science scores will count towards APR this year
- i-Ready EOY testing start date for grades 3-8
- 5/6/19 - grades 3, 4 begin testing
- 5/13/19 - grades 5 begin testing
- Make up sessions & SPED will be flexible to test outside the schedule outline above, due to time constraints for students with IEP/504 accommodations
Each building will be required to submit an official testing schedule that will be shared with students, parents and district staff and posted in your building. Dave Whitham will provide the schedule details and procedure to building STCs.
All students should begin practicing the online MAP testing tools. Students, parents and teachers can access these tools through this open link using Google Chrome:
By practicing these tools early and often, students will become familiar with the online tool requirements of the test and the barrier of technology is removed, which will increase student performance on the assessments.
On-Going Reminders
- If you send a student to the focus room please do so with one of the tickets Casey has provided, that way she knows why they are there. If they do not have a ticket they will be sent back to class.
- Please follow the nurse's stoplight schedule.
- If you send a student to the office please make sure they have a pass.
- Please make sure you are not sending large printing jobs to the basic printers, please send these to the copiers.
- Lunch counts and attendance need to be entered by 9:30, or Terri will start calling.
Recycling
- Mrs. Earls will take this over this year. Please remember to have your bins out in the hallway on recycling day!
