Raider Update
A Weekly eNewsletter from Hastings Public Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Good afternoon Raider Families,
The sun and a little warmer weather have to be sure signs that spring is here! I am sure the governor's news to relax certain restrictions also created a few more smiling faces. However, restrictions and guidance for our schools remain relatively the same. As restrictions relax in the community, while a new variant of the virus begins to impact some of our neighboring district classrooms and activities, it is important to remember that we all play a part in keeping our students in school. We all must take advantage of the free COVID testing because of the level of asymptomatic folks. Social distancing, mask-wearing, and hygiene all play a role in our ability to keep kids in classes and activities going. I continue to be grateful for the amazing job Hastings has done. As we close in on the one-year mark that this virus began to impact our lives and putting a halt to many things, I want to draw your attention to exciting forward-thinking soon to begin in the district; Strategic Planning. The school board gave direction this past week for us to begin the process of developing our Bridge to Learning Strategic Plan. Please take a moment and read about this exciting news below.

Mapping Our Road Ahead
Hastings Public Schools ISD 200 will soon begin a Strategic Planning process, with the School Board's unanimous support. Parents, staff, students, and community members will all have a voice and role to play in the process through surveys, focus groups, and other engagement opportunities.
The Bridge to Learning Strategic Plan will help the district identify what’s working well, what needs improvement, and how to ensure we are providing the kinds of experiences our students need and want on their educational journey. When the planning process is complete, we will have a clear and unified vision, how we will bring about our desired outcomes, and what our core values are. It will touch every level of our district, from the classroom to the board room.
We will keep parents, staff, and community members informed as the process unfolds. Thank you for your support for this important work and for offering your input when asked.
This Strategic Planning process is being coordinated by TeamWorks, International, a respected firm that helps school districts with educational leadership, planning, and decision-making.
