Cassidy Crew Families
Mrs. Cassidy's 4th - 8th Grade Classroom Newsletter
Hello Midnight Sun Families!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
I am very excited to be working with the families, students and staff at Midnight Sun once again! A little about me: I love living in Alaska with my husband of 26 years and our two awesome sons, Roman and Jordan. We have a unique dog named Matsu. He is a Xoloitzcuintli (show-low-eats-queen-tlee), commonly called a Xolo or Mexican Hairless. He is about the size of a German Shepherd, only he has no hair except for the top of his head. We also have a little Morkie-Poo puppy named Valley. I am allergic to most breeds but can tolerate these two funny faces. :-)
I received my B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education in 2017 from the University of Alaska, my Masters is in Education Technology in 2018 from Walden University, and this year I have begun my doctoral journey in Education Technology, also through Walden. I am very excited to continue my education and utilize what I learn with my students.
Newsletters:
I will be doing my newsletters online through smore.com. I can add you to the email list or send home the link: https://www.smore.com/25pa3-cassidy-crew-families. This will save some trees! However, if you would still prefer a printed newsletter, we can do that too. Please let me know!
Contacting me:
Families, please feel free to call or email me anytime throughout the year. My door is always open (unless we are testing (-; ) My contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter. Please join me on remind for contact before/after school hours!! https://www.remind.com/join/cassidy121
Microwaves:
I do have microwaves in the classroom for student use at lunch. However, this year we are not eating in the gym and wet things can be difficult to clean up off the carpet in the classroom. Plus, with 30 minutes for lunch and 28 students, if everyone needs to use the microwave that is almost 1/2 their lunch time gone - even if they just use it for 1 minute with 2 microwaves! The microwaves are still available for them to use, but if you can find some flexible alternatives, at least some days, they will have more time to sit and enjoy their meal.
I am thrilled to be part of Midnight Sun Family Learning Center and am looking forward to all of the learning adventures my students and I will have together! It is going to be an amazing year! Thank you for entrusting me with your awesome kids!!
