Half Way through 2019-2020 School Year!
What a fast moving first semester! It seems difficult to believe that on Tuesday next week, we start the 2nd half of the school year already. As we are gathering NWEA results, along with other measurements of achievement, we are excited to see how our Morgan students have been growing and learning since we started the new school year in September.
NWEA testing will continue throughout the month of January for all students at Morgan. Grades Kindergarten through sixth will show their progress in mathematics and reading. Students in grades third through sixth will also show their progress in science. Once NWEA testing is complete, your child's teacher can share results and progress with you. If you have concerns about your child's academic or behavior performance, you can reach out to your child's teacher through email, phone message, or Class Dojo (for those teachers who utilize).
Teachers are busy working on report cards for the second marking period. All parents with an established Power School Parent Portal account will receive their child's report card electronically through email next Friday, January 24, by the end of day.
Thank you to everyone who had lunch at Lettuce on Thursday this week. The Morgan Volunteers PTO will receive a percentage of all sales related to Morgan Elementary.
The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, January 21, at 6:30 PM at the Hamlin Pub on 25 Mile and Van Dyke.
Looks like some snow coming tonight and into Saturday. Enjoy some fun outside winter activities with your kids. The Rochester Fire & Ice Festival starts Friday night and runs throughout the weekend, so the snow will light up the town along with their big light show.
Have a good week,
Mrs. Lasky
5th Grade DIA Trip
Our classes, again this year, received several compliments for their kindness, politeness, listening, and respect of the art work in the DIA. Great job representing Morgan and our 8 Keys of Excellence!
Entrance to the DIA is free to all residents of Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties. A visit to the DIA is a fun way to spend a winter day as there is so much to see, learn, and do at the DIA!

Eisenhower NHS Tutoring
Parents may register their students by submitting a request located on our website:
http://ikenhs.weebly.com/eagle-tutoring.html.
This will allow us to prepare adequate tutors for each subject matter. We ask that parents complete the form by Sunday night each week in order to allow us to organize the correct number of NHS students.
Their goal is to provide a safe and productive environment for both students needing help and our NHS members offering their service. Additionally, a staff member will be on site every week checking in registered students and monitoring the sessions.
Looking for Lunch Monitors!
Looking for help on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays!
If you would be interested in helping in the lunchroom, please fill out a lunch monitor application with EduStaff. A link to the application can be found below. You will need to create an account, enter your information, complete some online training modules, and have a background check with finger prints. Then you can work as many lunch days as you would like and be paid for your help!
Several of our lunch monitors also complete additional training in EduStaff to serve as substitute paraprofessionals in our building. If you are interested in becoming a substitute paraprofessional, please use the EduStaff application process below.
If you have questions about becoming a lunch monitor or the online process, please contact Melissa Roth in our main office at 586-797-5800.
