CROC TALK BRIEF
Nancy Ryles Elementary Newsletter ~ April 22, 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW
Dear Nancy Ryles Families,
Thank you to those who came out today to participate in the Earth Day Clean Up at Nancy Ryles. It was great to see families on their day off helping our community and the Earth by picking up garbage. If you weren’t able to make it today, maybe you can find other ways to help our community and environment, such as picking up garbage as you take walks in the neighborhood or turning your car off and not idling while you are waiting for pick up at the end of the day. Every small action makes a difference.
We are pleased to announce that Nancy Ryles will be hosting a Summer Program from July 5-29th for incoming first through fifth grade students. The program will run Monday through Thursday from 8:30-12:30. Lunch and transportation will be provided. The goal is to have about 15-20 students per class. Enrollment will be prioritized to students who may have learning and/or behavioral challenges and would benefit with additional instruction and structure for a few weeks out of their summer. Enrollment will also prioritize students who have been traditionally underserved. However, there will be spots available for students who are looking for enrichment opportunities as well. Stay tuned for application information in the coming weeks.
Lastly, we learned that Beaverton School District received a grant from ODE to offer Kindergarten Academy at all elementary schools in BSD. If you have an incoming Kindergarten student or know of someone who does, this applies to you! Kindergarten Academy will take place late August (dates TBA) and offer an opportunity for incoming kindergarten students to attend a few half-day sessions prior to school starting to begin learning classroom routines, get a feel for the school, and immerse themselves in inquiry-based play and begin forming relationships with others. Transportation and lunch will be provided. We are in the very early stages of planning Kindergarten Academy and will be sending out additional information in the coming months.
I hope you enjoy the sunny weather that will be coming our way next week.
With care,
Monica Arbow
Principal

Lost and Found - Is your student missing things?
On Tuesday, April 26, during lunch and lunch recess there will be a volunteer at the Lost and Found helping your student look for items. We all know how kids "look" for things and they just don't do a great job. Remind your child what to look for and someone will be there to help them! You can also send an email to communications@nancyrylesco.com and we will try to reunite you with your lost items!
