AEA Strongsville Testing Update
Ohio Testing window opens
As you may know, spring testing is quickly approaching for students in grades 3-9. Ohio law requires that we administer the regular assessments for all students, this includes students virtually attending school. Due to state requirements we are required to administer the assessments in person and on AEA-owned computer devices.
Please remind students that these tests are important but they are not the only measure of success. Students should be well-rested, relaxed and have had a healthy and satisfying breakfast beforehand.
All testing sessions will start at 8:30 a.m. and will continue for the allotted time for that test, typically 75, 90 or 110 minutes. Testing will be done in quiet areas of the building and all students with accommodations in their 504s or IEPs will have those accommodations made to them.

Further information and precautions
As a reminder, we are taking Covid precautions very seriously and we have the following procedures in place:
If your child is not feeling well please call 440-471-4982 x1700 and do not attend. No one is permitted on school grounds if they have had a temperature of 100 or greater in the past 24 hours, have experienced vomiting within the last 24 hours, have known exposure to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or is awaiting results for a COVID-19 test.
All individuals in the building must wear a facemask for the entire school day. If a person in the building forgets their mask, one will be provided for their use.
Students must maintain physical distancing at all times. Visual reminders are present and adults remind students to stay 3-6 feet apart from each other at all times.
Students are not permitted to go to the restroom more than one person at a time in order to maintain physical distancing.
All individuals entering the building are screened at the door. Your student will have their temperature taken and will be given hand sanitizer.
All students will use dividers around their testing area. These dividers have a clear front so that they can see out. We have many of these dividers and your student(s) will be provided with one on the testing day.
Cleaning will be taking place in-between testing sessions and on frequent touch surfaces. Your student(s) may need to assist in this by using a Clorox or similar wipe in their testing space.
Virtual students may bring only what they absolutely need for the day, minimizing all materials traveling to and from school. For testing this is:
An AEA-provided chromebook and charger. If you do not have an AEA Chromebook assigned to you, one will be available for your student to use during testing.
One (1) book to read while waiting for testing to be finished if they complete their task early.
A sweater or sweatshirt to wear because temperatures change within the building and it may be difficult to predict how to dress for comfort.
A water bottle for drinking water. This will not be able to be on the desk by the chromebook during testing, but it can be nearby. Water fountains are only permitted for refilling of water bottles.
All students will be provided with pencils and scratch paper per Ohio testing guidelines. School supplies are not necessary on testing days.
