Principal Messages
This past year has been one of significant reflection, growth and discovery. Not only are we facing a pandemic, but we are hurting as a country as a result of institutional, structural and individual racism that is occurring in every facet of our society. My thoughts are with our Wildcat families of color and know that we are with you, I am with you. As principal of Central Avenue, it is my absolute duty to undo the harm that has been caused in our educational systems that marginalize students of color. This year, our entire school staff have been engaged in professional learning to examine our roles to becoming anti-racist educators to promote social justice and equity for all in our education system. It has been a slow, arduous, uncomfortable, yet rewarding journey to learn alongside this dedicated team of educators to consider and stop practices that undermine the potential of each and every Central Avenue student. We can do better and we will do better. I am so grateful for the greater community of Central Avenue and the unconditional support you provide our school. Last week's parade was an example of the unity we have right here at home. As the last few weeks of school wind down I remain determined and hopeful for a better future for our students.
Mrs. Middling
I can’t believe that we are entering June already and only have three weeks left of school! Time…who knew that that would be standing in our way this year. Some weeks it has flown by while others have crawled. We see YOU and know that this closure has been very difficult for so many. We look forward to the day (hopefully sooner than later) that we can all be together! We miss you all so much and were so excited to see many of you last night (5/28) during our Parking Lot Parade. The smiling faces and laughs from families was priceless! Looking forward to seeing you all soon! -Mrs. Hillius
School Closure Update
On Monday, April 6, Governor Inslee ordered the closure of all schools in Washington State for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Throughout the closure, school districts across the state have been asked to:
- provide food and nutrition services
- provide childcare for children of healthcare workers and first responders
- provide educational resources and support
If you have questions, or need assistance to access educational resources and continued learning for your child, please contact Mrs. Middling at tmiddling@fpschools.org and you will be connected with your child's classroom teacher.

We're Moving!
We have packed up the entire school and will be moving into our new home at Collins on 128th and Bingham Ave. this summer! We will be there for one year while the existing Central Avenue school will be torn down to make room for a new and beautiful, more secure campus! We are so excited about a new school for our Wildcats!

Children's Immunizations
The Washington Vaccines for Children Program gives free vaccines to kids under age 19. It’s best to go to your healthcare provider for immunizations. They can check if your child is healthy. Most insurance plans cover the office and administration fees. Ask your provider. Or you can go to a free children's immunization clinic.
Remember, free immunizations are being offered by TPCHD, by appointment at this time...(253) 403-1767.
