Welcome Back!

Welcome back all! We hope you all had a loving and restful holiday. It's hard to believe that it is already 2016! With the new year and new month come new experiences in the preschool classroom.

We can't wait to see you all the first week back. Thank you again for entrusting your little angels to our care.

In the Classroom

The curriculum this month will focus on the tree of life - animals from around the world, the web of life: producers/ consumers/ decomposers, Dr. Martin Luther King, bulbs, geometric art and phonetic letters: 'g', 'h', 'o', 'i'.

Please check out the classroom for new displays portraying your child's art work.

Songs to be sung in the classroom this month are:
"The Continent Song" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz1zHIPOFf8

A Few Changes

Since the preschool classroom is a single entity, instead of saying 'Ms. Maira's class' or Ms. Anna's class,' we will further distinguish the groups by naming them. After much deliberation and gathering of ideas from the children, we have chosen a few titles that we will be deciding on in the weeks to come. Look for banners depicting the new names of the sub-classrooms in the month to come.

In February, we will be introducing the use of 'school slippers' in the classroom. Please supply your child with a pair of comfortable close toed, non-slip (on the floor) slippers to wear in the classroom while they are at school. Crocs are a great option as they are easy to take off and put on. The children will add a whole new step to their morning arrival ritual - changing out of their outside shoes into their 'classroom slippers'. The slippers will be for indoor use only and they will change into their outside shoes when we get ready to go outside. The slippers will stay at school for the duration of their enrollment at Little Oaks. If you have any questions please let us know.

Reminders

Please be sure to bring in your family page so that we can bind the pages into a classroom book. If you need a page the teachers are happy to help.

Looking Ahead

On February 18th at 10:00 am we will have a local dentist visit the classroom to talk about the importance of taking care of our teeth.
