So you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid?
If you like reading Jeff Kinney's books you might want to try... • Dear Dumb Diary by Jim Benton • Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh • Amber Brown series Paula Danziger • How to train your dragon by Cressida Cowell • Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce • Captain Underpants by Dave Pilkey • Charlie Joe Jackson’s Guide to Not Reading by Tommy Greenwald • Clementine Series by Sara Pennypacker • Wayside School by Louis Sachar
Consistency is the key.
The biggest mistake we as parents can make is not being consistent in our support of reading. If you want your child to be kind, you have to model kindness every day. Good nutrition starts with the same approach. Tiger Woods became an exceptional golfer because togetherhe and his dad made it a priority in their relationship. They golfed every day. We can do the same thing with reading. If we layer one positive experience on top of another, we are building a strong foundation for life. Especially when a child is very young, it is the sound of your voice, not the words, that they love. For more information visit http://www.literacyconnections.com/reading-consistency-is-important.php
