Happy Birthday To:

Aleah: Feb. 10

Looking forward to February!

Hi Sunshine Parents!

Wow! January went by really fast! We had a fun month in our classroom and I'm seeing huge strides in all of the students' academic development! One of my favorite things about teaching is watching how proud the students are of themselves when they realize they are really understanding a new concept. I look forward to discussing each of your students and their progress with you at our Parent Teacher Conference!

As always, we have lots of exciting plans for February! We will start our first week with learning about Groundhog Day and beginning our preparations for Valentine's Day. We will also be exploring dental health concepts and learn about some famous artists this month. We will continue to work on writing our numbers and will play many games that will help us review the sounds of each alphabet letter. We will also continue to work on the "sh" and "ch" letter blends. We are starting to play some new games at the computer center that will help the students with rhyming and counting.

Over the course of the next week, I am asking that each student bring in an empty tissue box (square or rectangular) that they will decorate to use as their mailbox at our Valentine's Day party. I will also have the clip boards out this week at drop-off and pick-up for those parents who want to sign up to bring a treat for the class.

At the end of the month our class will be having a tea party (we'll have a different drink than tea though.) :) It will be on the 26th for T/Th and the 27th for MWF. If your child wants to dress up on those days that would be great! We won't do anything messy in their dress-up clothes! Some of the girls have asked if they can wear their plastic princess heels to the tea party and that is great as long as they bring another pair of shoes to wear when we play outside. Conversely, some of the boys have said they don't want to dress up and that is totally fine too!

I am so looking forward to another amazing month with your fantastic kids!
