For a long time, life felt perfect

Then 1948, the National Party gained power

the whites, the blacks, the asians, and other

began to separate soon


Though it's crazy, and scary

that the government stripped rights from all black africans

Voting, marriage, learning, protesting

Africans were forbade from whites


It was apartheid, apartheid.

run by the descendents of the (british) settlers

gave certain rights to only the whites

Look into the eyes of the other races

Watch them struggle through this time as they took rights

they took homes, they took...

The blacks (and other races except whites) were pushed to homelands

Their lives began to fall apart

They slept, they ate,the cried, they prayed

It was their only point of life


Little education they received

So they began to riot and deceive

But they were tortured, beaten, jailed, or killed

when they fought for what they believed (they wanted to be treated equally)

to unite the African people

and destroy the laws the government performed.


Then the UN took some power

repealed the laws: freedom every hour

They ended apartheid in

1962


And Nelson Mandellla was freed from jail

a black activist who fought but failed

became the first leader of the

apartheid-free South Africa….
