Carol Rae Ranch Elementary
Principal's Corner
Dear Coyote Families,
First, congratulations to our entire CRRE community. You did it again! With our high achievement and student growth, Carol Rae has been rated an “A” school by the Arizona Department of Education. Our teachers work hard and our students do, too! Thank you for the support you give at home to help your child to learn and grow every day.
Although we are rated “A”, we still have room to grow. Who wants to build a better reader? I do-I do! There are many ways to do this, and research shows that part of a child’s fluency success comes from reading for pleasure in and outside of school. Look at the chart below to see the positive impact of reading every day.
Mixing up the type of book or text your child is reading is a smart idea and will expand their knowledge, vocabulary, and interests. Most elementary students need to read more non-fiction texts. They need to use and build the skills of looking at the titles, headings, graphs, charts, and images that are there to help them to learn more about a topic. We thank you for expecting your child to build their stamina by reading every day. Turning off the electronics, games, and busy-ness to read for 20 minutes is a great habit to build. Set the timer, grab a chair, couch, or spot on the floor and build a better reader by SIMPLY READING.
Educationally Yours,
Thea Hansen
Principal
