A NESA and TQI accredited course from BehaveAbility
Completing Positive Behaviour Management will contribute 5 hours and 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standards 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2 and 4.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
For ACT teachers, completing this course will contribute 5 hours of TQI registered PL addressing standards 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2 and 4.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher accreditation in the ACT.

Content of the Australian seminars.
These interactive, fun and engaging seminars, run by Ian Luscombe (and others in Cambodia), will inspire you to approach your peers, students and parents in a new way. Sharing new insights and techniques that result in improved understanding, communication and relationships, we will explore the underlying reasons for why kids do what they do and provide positive strategies for managing the myriad of behaviours you are likely to encounter.
Some of the topics covered include:
- The 3 major strategies for managing disruptive behaviour
- The importance of managing our own emotions, and how to do it
- How to promote consistency among staff when dealing with students with challenging behaviours
- Practical step-by-step methods for managing students with oppositional behaviour
- Examining some of the reasons students behave the way they do
- A technique for dealing with situations that you don't know how to deal with
- School culture and how it either supports or hinders the consistent application of rules
- Written rules vs Unwritten rules
- Why a ⅓ of positive feedback doesn’t work, and ways to get around this.
- “We get what we accept.” Exploring the reasons why we “accept” certain behaviours that we really don’t want to, and strategies to get us out of this common trap.
- The use of preventative scripts to encourage compliance
- The use of corrective scripts when we need to set limits around behaviour
- How to use; vicarious praise, proximity control, wait time, voice tone and selective attending
- How to give an instruction that will encourage compliance
- for dealing with non-compliance.
