What was the Renaissance?
The Renaissance was a movement that started in the 1300's in Italy. It was a movement of intelligence and birth of the modern world. Many people were discovering new things and ideas. New forms of art, literature, and music were being created.
Why did it start?
During the 1300's many people were discovering new things, recreating art, music, and literature and the modern world was being born. Gutenberg was working on perfecting printing, Christopher Columbus discovered America, Copernicus found that the earth revolved around the sun, and Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were creating new forms of art.

Who were the important figures during the Renaissance?
William Shakespeare, Leonard da Vinci, Albrecht Durer, Indigo Jones, Michelangelo, Copernicus, Gutenberg, and Christopher Columbus. All these men were inventors, artist, writers, or discovered new ideas and places.

The renaissance was a time of new ideas, discoveries, and when new literature was created. These ideas have stuck around ever since, leading us to what we know today.
