Citizen of the Month Celebration
The first Citizens of the Month celebration will be this Friday, October 13, 2017, to honor our September Citizens of the Month. We have moved up the monthly celebrations to 3:15 to reduce the busyness at the end of the day.
All Hands On Deck
As mentioned in the staff meeting last week, thank you for supporting the "all hands on deck" attitude. Supervising adults in the morning and the end of the day are very helpful to create a calm, welcoming, and safe environment. Thank you for establishing and reinforcing routines and procedures for transitions to recess, from lunch, and to and from specials. We also appreciate having you outside at dismissal making sure students are getting to the right place and are safe in doing that.
Site Q-Comp Goal
Here is the 2017-2018 Q-Comp Goal for Gatewood:
The percentage of all students in grades 3-6 at Gatewood Elementary School who meet or exceed their fall to spring individual RIT Growth Projections on the NWEA MAP in reading will increase from 57.8% in spring 2017 to 58.8% in spring 2018.
One reason for selecting this goal is to focus on reading since math has been the goal the last couple years. Also, the district recommended a 1% growth goal this year as opposed to the 2% growth goal last year. It's recommended to use MAP rather than MCA data because we have more grade level data for the MAP test.
Roots
Thank you Mr. Ike and his mentee, 6th grader Alex Topezer, for spray painting the roots of the Kindness Tree. The paint adds a dimension that is hard to see with the natural color. Thank you, Mr. Ike and Alex!
