So You've Requested Technology!

What to Expect

First Steps

After you have made a technology request with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Office of Distance Education, there are a few things that have to happen before your new technology lands on your desk.

What Has to Happen?

1. You must be approved. Approval generally comes through your department chair.

2. You must provide your KSU ID #. This information must be provided to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Office of Distance Education to start the checkout process.

3. You must turn in any equipment that you currently have that is of the same type that you are requesting. The technology inventory will be scanned to see what equipment you have. If you already have a laptop, or multiple laptops, for example, and you have been approved for a new one, you will need to have to relinquish your old machine before you get your new one.

a. Generally, you will get an email request to pick up your old equipment so that the UITS team can transfer your data to your new equipment. Then your new equipment will be delivered. Expect a three day turnaround.

b. If you can't be without a machine, we have a short-term loaner machine you can use while you are waiting for the turnaround.

Important Notes

As you know, KSU often relies on student assistants to help with tasks such as distributing technology. Student assistants work specific hours and are not available/checking their email when they are not on duty. Please select "reply all" in your email responses to student assistant queries so that CHSS UITS personnel can stay in the loop and fulfill your requests in a timely fashion.
