Bridgeview School Bulletin
September 2020
From the Desk of Mrs. Del Prete
It’s important to us that our students, staff, and families feel safe and prepared as we start the new school year. Thank you for all your support as we work through our second week of remote learning!
With the launch of remote learning in the spring, during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized that we needed to make significant improvements to our remote instruction for this fall. I know this year is likely to bring new challenges and will require flexibility as families, students, and staff adapt to this new way of learning and teaching. Please understand, that just like the start of every school year we will not be jumping into academic instruction. Bridgeview School staff believes relationship building is key to start the school year off right. This is why our school year starts with getting to know the whole child. The staff has been directed to first know the students and families they will be working with, setting our families up for success by ensuring everyone has the materials needed to get started, and prioritizing technological know-how which is the foundation of remote learning.
Instruction will begin gradually and start with standards recovery. Teachers have completed professional development over the summer to look at what standards have not been mastered from the previous school year. They will begin the school year with a focus on standards recovery and then move into grade-level core content. This will allow for a slow progression in order to set our families and students up for success.
Our partnership with our families is a key ingredient in our ability to be successful in teaching and reaching our student's needs. In many ways, this school year will be unlike any other before, but even in this new environment, our focus remains on your child’s learning. This new model of schooling may bring new challenges to overcome and new problems to solve, but I am convinced we will come out of this stronger than ever.
Stay well,
Candice

Don't Be Late!
8:10AM 1st Bell
8:15AM Tardy Bell
1:45PM School Dismissed
All students arriving late to school (after 8:15AM) must report to the office for a tardy slip. Every 5th tardy a note will be sent home. Continuous tardiness may constitute other disciplinary consequences. Our goal is for all students to arrive at school on time each day. When students are late, they miss instructional opportunities. Please keep in mind that students arriving after 9:15AM are no longer considered tardy, but will instead receive a half day absence.
Being late is detrimental to all students' learning, especially if it occurs on a consistent basis. Be sure to do all you can to prevent tardiness. Your child will thank you for it!
