I am filled with gratitude for all that we are achieving at school. Each week I watch the students grow academically and socially. I can’t think of a better week to stop and reflect on how much it means to me to be your principal in the many past years and in this final year of my career. As the years pass, there remains one thing that matters the most, in my opinion: our relationships. It’s the one surviving thing that I see as your kids turn into adults and the adults into grandparents; it brings me joy. Joy for you and me because we share that together.
My Best,
Jim

Meet Zaydn Shortreed. This is his first year at Steins Pillar Elementary School, and he's a 5th grader in Mrs. Cross's class.
His favorite subject in school is handwriting because he loves writing and thinks it's fun. He also enjoys attending school to see friends and help others. In fact, Zaydn is a "Kindergarten Buddy." He helps the younger students and returns lunch buckets to classrooms.
"Zaydn is an incredible young man who cares about doing well in class and helping his fellow students. He's a very generous human who always thinks beyond himself. It's a true joy to have him at SPE." - Principal Bates & Ms. Gretchen Stack.
