The Ersatz Elevator

This was sixth of the thirteen books I read that were by Lemony Snicket. This book picks up where the fifth book left off, to take you on yet another journey with Violet, Klause, and Sunny Baudelaire, with a new set of guardians. Esme is greedy and always worrying about her popularity, worrying about what's "in", the new style. Fortunately, or unfortunately, taking in orphans is "in", so she demands that they adopt the three orphan heroes. They will have to live in an apartment on 667 Dark Avenue and be troubled by the knowledge that their friends, Isadora and Duncan Quagmire, are missing and there is little they can do while the are being "raised" by these new guardians.

They also have the burden of having to solve the mystery of the secret organization, V.F.D. The organization that their, now, perished parents were apart of.

They also have to escape from Count Olaf, their first Guardian, a greedy man that wants the Baudelaire fortune and will do anything for it.

Will the three orphans find their friends?

Will they ever find out the mystery of V.F.D.?

Will they ever escape Count Olaf?
