STATE MAKEUP TESTING
MAY 23-24: MUSIC MURAL PAINTING DAYS
In partnership with PTSA, FIHP, Friends of Reed, and muralism.org (a local non-profit and LAUSD-approved vendor that employs special-needs adults), select Reed music and arts students and staff will be painting our new Music Mural on Monday and Tuesday during school
TUESDAY, MAY 24: STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Do you want to run for 2022-2023 student council help make next year better than ever?
Join ASB for an informational meeting Tuesday, May 24th at lunch in the C-Arcade.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25: 8th GRADE AWARDS NIGHT - VIRTUAL
Wednesday night, May 25th will be the VIRTUAL 8th Grade Awards Night for select 8th graders who are nominated for special awards. This is an invitation only event. Invitations to eligible 8th grade students will be sent via email to students and parents that evening, and it is a watch anytime link.
THURSDAY, MAY 26: 8th GRADE COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL
This month's Coffee with the Principal will be May 26th at 9 AM for 8th Grade families only, focusing on culmination and related 8th grade requirements, deadlines, and activities. See attachment below for all the dates including chromebook, textbook and library book collection, locker clean out, culmination related dates, and more.

THURSDAY, MAY 26: 7th GRADE CONCERT!
The 7th Grade Final Music Concert will feature the 7th grade instrumental music classes, 7th grade choir and 6/7th grade show choir. All are welcome! Masking is encouraged!
Please note that the 6th Grade Instrumental Music Concert will be May 31st at 6:30 PM and the 8th Grade Instrumental Music & Choir Concert will be held on June 2nd at 6:30 PM.
FRIDAY, MAY 27: ANCIENT CIVILIZATION MARKET & MINIMUM DAY DISMISSAL
6th grade students will participate in the Ancient Civilization Market during the school day!
All students will be dismissed on a Minimum Day schedule at 12:37.
FRIDAY, MAY 27: 8th GRADE GRAD NIGHT (NON-SPONSORED TRIP)
8th Grade students who purchased Jr. Grad Night tickets for Magic Mountain will be leaving the campus on Friday, 5/27 at 3 PM.
- This event is sponsored by Friends of Reed and is a non-LAUSD event.
- Note that 5/27 is an early dismissal at 12:37PM.
- Buses will depart Walter Reed at 3:00PM
- Jr. Grad Nite students can either stay at Walter Reed with chaperones from 12:37PM - 3:00PM (a light meal will be offered) or go home and return to school by 2:00PM for a 3:00PM departure.
- Students can leave their backpacks or large bags on the buses while at Magic Mountain. There will be no access to the school when the buses return to Walter Reed.
- Magic Mountain is open to the public until 8:00PM. After 8:00PM, the park is only open for Jr. Grad Nite schools.
- No student in and out privileges while at Magic Mountain.
- Students are allowed to roam freely in the park while there.
- Six Flags Magic Mountain dress code applies.
- Ticket purchase includes admission to Magic Mountain, one Magic Mtn. prepared box meal served between 7:00PM - 9:00PM, and free drinks all day long.
- Students are welcome to bring additional money for purchases of food and souvenirs. The park does not allow outside refreshments.
- Game areas and go-karting are not included in the admission ticket.
- Students will be assigned to a chaperone and a bus in alphabetical order by last name. Once in the park, they can separate from their chaperones and hang with their friends.

ATTENTION INCOMING 6TH GRADE FAMILIES:
Space is Limited! Sign up for our Summer Bridge Program. Click for details! Summer bridge is a program that aims to help students transition from elementary to middle school by introducing them to each other, our campus, our expectations, and some of our procedures. Bridge helps students feel familiar and confident within our campus before the first day of school.
Bridge will be August 1, 2, and 3 from 9:00 am to 11:45 am at Walter Reed Middle School.
Bridge students will have two, 75 minute periods with a 15 minute break in between. Students are encouraged to bring a snack for break.
