Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Online Registration begins February 1, 2021. Union School District has online registration. The link for online registration will be posted on the district and school websites. If you do not have computer access, please contact our office. Please try and attend our Kinder Orientation meeting on Jan. 21 from 6:00-7:00pm. This will be a virtual orientation and Zoom information will be posted on our website as we get closer to the date. To be eligible for Kindergarten in the fall, a child’s 5th birthday must be on or before September 1, 2021. If a child’s 5th birthday is between September 2 and December 2, 2021, s/he is eligible to attend Transitional Kindergarten during the 2021-22 school year. More information regarding registration can be found on the district website (www. unionsd.org) under “Parents."
Tips & Resources for Helping Children Through These Times
Children will process events in different ways. Here are a few tips and strategies for talking to children about current events.
The images on the news can be particularly frightening for our young students. I would recommend turning the television off or if you do have the news on, watching with your children and engaging in thoughtful discussions about what you have seen.
Let your child take the lead, and answer their questions truthfully, but without over-informing.
Remember that children will follow your lead. Try to model concern and agency: the idea that we can make a difference in our world, even when things feel overwhelming.
