President's Note
Summer is nearly over. Schools have resumed, vacations are memories, and Music Clubs are starting a new year.
Since the last Missouri Music Notes in May, I have been elected to serve as MFMC President Also the NFMC Convention was attended in Jacksonville, Florida, the South Central Federation Days were held at Opera in the Ozarks, and now it’s time to kick off the plans for another musical year.
Please let me know the names and contact information of your officers and a list of your members. Be sure to send your dues to Duane Langley, our Treasurer, by the November 1 deadline.
We would love to have a copy of your yearbook when it’s ready. I hope in your planning for 2019-2020 you included Parade of American Music, Founder’s Day, and National Music Week.
Best wishes for a great year.

MFMC Fall Meting
I want to share a few highlights of the Fall meeting. We enjoyed musical performances by our 2019 Church Musician of the Year, Joyce Berg, and Junior Composer, Brandon Kim, who won 1st place in third class of the NFMC Junior Composer competition.
The new Together We Sing book was introduced and is available through NFMC for $2.50 each. Also a new publication of poetry, A Year in Verse can be ordered for your club use.
The Junior track covered everything you ever wanted to know about Juniors and Festival while the Senior track focused on annual planning for our clubs. Fail to plan = plan to fail.
Opera in the Ozarks
Missouri FMC was well represented at South Central Federation Days at Inspiration Point fine Arts Colony (Opera in the Ozarks) held in July in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Shown in the photo at right are NFMC President Frances Nelson, who was the honorary guest and speaker at the final dinner, and the South Central Region president Leona Whitesell of Oklahoma.
Opera in the Ozarks is our special summer center project for South Central Region of NFMC.
Members attending from MFMC were Starla and Terry Blair, Alice Conway, Connie and Larry Craig, Don Dagenais, Carole and Duane Langley, Betty Watson and Julie Watson. We enjoyed a “Taste of Opera”, three outstanding opera productions and the children’s opera that was presented to local elementary schools in May/June.
This is an exciting time at OiO with the possibility of the construction of a new theater and affiliated campus that could be used year-round. The IPFAC Governing Board continues to meet with a consultant regarding design, construction costs, and other related issues.
Each year the opera productions are exceptional and we expect the 65th season to be just as outstanding. Plan now to attend.
