SCHOOL NEWS
COMING TO SCHOOL TUESDAY, JANUARY 11
Los Angeles Unified now requires COVID-19 testing for all students and employees, regardless of vaccination status, before the first week back from winter break. All students and employees will be required to have proof of a negative COVID-19 test in order to come onto campus on Tuesday, January 11.
On Tuesday, please ensure your child arrives early as we expect lines.
Also our campus will be closed to any visitors or parents on campus. If you should need to schedule an appointment or pick up your child early please call the school site.
BASELINE COVID TESTING
Thank you to the families that have already taken their child to be COVID-19 tested. It is highly encouraged that you have your child tested as soon as possible to ensure you receive your test results back in time so they can attend on Tuesday. If you still are in need of COVID-19 testing, here is a link of all of the available testing sites Click here .
1. PCR TEST WITH AN APPOINTMENT: You can schedule a COVID-19 test at https://dailypass.lausd.net. For help scheduling a COVID-19 test or using the Daily Pass, call the Los Angeles Unified Helpdesk at (213) 443-1300, Mon-Sat 6am-6pm. The nearest Los Angeles Unified COVID-19 testing site in LDNE can be found by clicking this link LDNE Testing Sites. Information about additional testing sites, including the extended hour sites Pacoima MS and Monlux Testing Center, can also be found on the Los Angeles Unified website at achieve.lausd.net/covidtestingappt. The extended hour sites at Pacoima MS and Monlux Testing Center are open from 7:15am – 6:00pm. Please be sure to line-up at least 30 minutes before the closing time at each site to be sure to have enough time to be tested.
2. PCR TEST WALK-IN (NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED): Families can also go to the following sites without an appointment: in LDNE or in LDNW.
HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR RESULTS
If your child was tested and has external test results please visit https://achieve.lausd.net/dailypass to view how to upload external test results to your child's daily pass. Upload external PCR or antigen tests, including one of the provided at-home tests, onto the student’s Daily Pass account no later than Monday, January 10 2022.
If taking the PCR test from a LAUSD site, there is no need to upload results.
If taking a Rapid Test, take a picture of the results and upload it to the Daily Pass system with the student’s full name and date of birth.
If your child tested positive during the winter break, the positive test result needs to be uploaded to the Daily Pass system to exclude your child from needing a baseline test before returning to school.
For information on how to upload an external test result, please visit achieve.lausd.net/dailypass.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CHILD HAS TESTED POSITIVE
It is important that any externally administered, positive test result is added to the Daily Pass as soon as it is received.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 please visit https://achieve.lausd.net/covidfaq. You will receive a text with their results. If a student or employee has tested positive they must isolate for at least five days. Individuals who test positive may be released from isolation and return to school on Day 6, provided all symptoms are improving, they are fever-free for the past 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and they have a negative (antigen) test result from a test taken on or after Day 5.
If your child tested positive earlier during the winter break, the positive test result needs to be uploaded to the Daily Pass system to exclude your child from needing a baseline test before returning to school.
NEW MASK RECOMMENDATIONS
Masking will be required at all times, indoors and outdoors. It is strongly recommended that all students wear well-fitting, non-cloth masks with a nose wire. Here is a quick video on how to "Knot and Tuck" surgical or surgical style masks to improve fit and protection!
OTHER COVID SPRING SEMESTER UPDATES
Weekly testing will continue for all students and employees, regardless of vaccination status, through the month of January. For more information on this and other policies, please visit achieve.lausd.net/spring2022.
HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR CHILD'S VACCINATION, BOOSTER, OR MEDICAL EXEMPTION
Vaccinations remain a key element in reducing the impact of COVID-19 on individuals and communities, and will be required for students 12 and older at the start of the Fall 2022 semester. Anyone 5 years or older is eligible for the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. Booster shots are available for anyone 12 and older, at least five months after their second dose. For information on available vaccination sites, please visit lausd.net/covidvaccineappt.
