Technology Issues
- If something isn't working, log off, restart and try again. :) Fixes 90% of problems!
-Try to troubleshoot as much as you can, ask a neighbor, log in as the student to see what they see, use THIS Technical Support Guide.
- If it is still not fixed, email me SPECIFICS-student names, screenshots, etc.
- I will need to prioritize by the order of which I receive emails-please don't stop me in the hall-I promise I won't remember once I make it back to my desk.
- If something seems to be "down" please email me and I will contact the district for guidance, most likely it is a countywide issue.
-Please submit a unity ticket for any "hardware" related issues.
Thank you for your patience as we get all these beginning of the year "kinks" worked out!

Microsoft Teams Update
Students Not Having the Ability to Chat
When you place a Teams link in itslearning and students click on it, they are typically joining as a Guest and it prompts them to type in their name. In my testing, students always had the chat feature in this case. However, when I had one of those same students actually login with their district account, the chat feature is not there. It tells them that it has been blocked by the Administrator-that’s not you….we’ll ask if this is something Tech Services has put in place and if it was on purpose or not (sometimes we’re trying to block one thing, but other things get blocked by default at the same time.) I’m GUESSING it has something to do with the fact that any of us (with chat enabled for our district accounts) can just start up a chat with anyone we want.
Grid View
According to every tech person I talk to grid view (the 7x7 grid) has not yet been released in Microsoft Teams. However, quite a few people have said they had it. So thanks to Angana, try this and see if it works for you:
-Click on your Activity Feed and go to the little gear button (settings) -Select General
-Check this box
How can you manage your meeting links so you don’t have to make a new one each time and kids can’t get back into the meeting?
The bottom line on this is IF you do these TWO things, they should never be able to get back in and you can use the same link over and over.
- Make everyone wait in the lobby and be admitted to the meeting by you.
- When you end the meeting, select End Meeting (behind the 3 dots) rather than just hanging up.
Some other tactics include placing the link in itslearning (whether you use the widget or just copy/paste the meeting link) on a Note or Page that can easily be deactivated when not needed. So, that would mean NOT putting it on your main page for that day, but on a separate itslearning note or page that you could link to the main page. I would still highly recommend that you do 1 and 2 above…but by putting the link on something that kids can’t get to, you keep them from even trying and you won’t see a notification that #### is waiting in the lobby while you are not actually meeting.
