Happy Retirement
Kathy Stables has served Southside for many years as the school's Curriculum Resource Teachers. Ms. Stables will trade in her PowerTeacher log-in for a rocking chair effective March 24, 2016. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Stables on her retirement.
A message from Ms. Stables...
Letter to the Faculty and Staff,
What a pleasure (really!) it has been to work with you all. Not only do I count you as co-workers, but friends and family. I am very proud to have been part of the Southside family. I know how hard each of you work, the hours you put in after school and on weekends, the immense amount of paperwork you deal with: grading papers, lesson plans, grade distributions, contact logs, and the list goes on. And I know how much you care for the students and invest (time, money, effort, and energy) in their lives, and very often without much, if any, “thanks”! But you are making a difference, whether you know it or not; and you are appreciated.
Although I look forward to sipping tea in a rocking chair on a porch, I will miss you all. So to all of my Southside friends and family, may God bless you and grant you continued success!
And Thank You!
Kathy Stables

Staff Attendance
Teachers and Staff,
Please make a concerted effort to be present each day. Due illness and Family Medical Leave, we have experienced a drastic increase in teacher absences during the month of February. It has been difficult to secure reliable substitutes, therefore, Ms. Ransome has had to request assistance from other teachers to cover classes. If you become ill or know you will be absence in advance, please put your absence in SmartFind as early as possible.
Substitute Plans
Teachers,
Please remember to leave detailed plans for substitutes when you are absent. In instances where there are no current student rosters, emergency plans, or lesson plans for the day, substitutes have expressed concerns about the lack of planning. A substitute should not have to look for the green sub folder or the red emergency folder as those items should be left visible on your desk. Your planning or the lack thereof will often determine whether a substitute wants to return to our building or not. Also, have conversations with your students about the behavior you expect them to exhibit toward a substitute during your absence.

H-Drive Access
H-Drive Access:
As is the case with student H drives, Staff will no longer have remote access to their H drives (home directory with your username) after June 30, 2016. Your H drive will only be accessible from a Windows based computer (your laptop not a Chromebook) at school. Staff should continue to use their H drive to store files that contain student data. All other files and folders need to be moved to Google Drive for easier home access. Your district Google Drive (username@greenvilleschools.us) has no space limit. From now on, you may want to consider creating your documents in Google docs, slides, forms, etc.
One option is to save all H drive files (except those containing student data) to a flash drive and move only files that you will need in the future to your Google Drive.
