AMS Weekly Update
September 20, 2021
The Musselwhite Memo
Happy Monday, AMS families! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. This week marks the sixth week of school. Progress Reports will be available in Ascender Parent Portal on Thursday, September 23 after 5:00 P.M. This progress report impacts UIL eligibility for our student athletes, band members, and cheerleaders. Also, friendly reminder that Friday, September 24, is a student holiday as our teachers will be engaging in professional learning!
Also, as part of our student recognition program, we are accepting nominations for Community Champions. Each month we celebrate students who are making a difference in our community (outside of school). To nominate a student, please click the link below!
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of AMS! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out! Remember to be the difference and have a great Bearcat day!
Start With Hello Week
All Aledo ISD campuses will be taking part in Start With Hello Week, beginning Sept. 20.
Start With Hello teaches students the skills they need to reach out and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their classroom, school or youth organization. Last year, thousands of schools from across the United States participated in Start With Hello Call To Action week to highlight and spread the message of the power of Start With Hello’s three simple steps:
1. See Someone Alone
2. Reach Out and Help
3. Start With Hello
As part of our Start With Hello week activities, students and staff are encouraged to participate in daily dress up themes!
Student Council - Now Accepting Applications
Varsity Football Game Reminders
- Please remember that middle school students will not be admitted to varsity football games without a parent/guardian.
- No in-and-out privileges; re-entry requires purchase of a new ticket.
- Students will not be permitted to congregate or play under the stands or in the concourse.
- For middle school students, the largest problems have been profanity, throwing items, and disrespect towards authority when asked to change these behaviors. Any of the misbehavior listed above will be grounds for removal from the stadium and could result in not being allowed to attend games in the future.
Thank you for your support as we work to make these games an enjoyable, safe experience for all!
Athletic Events This Week
7th Graders will play at Burleson Hughes. 8th Graders will play at HOME beginning at 5:00. Spectators are welcome, but must be in the stands. Only players, cheerleaders, coaches, sponsors, and student media will be permitted on the track/field.

Junior FFA
Junior FFA membership is open to Aledo ISD students in grades 3-7 or at least 8 years of age. Dues for Jr. Members will be $40.00*. Joining the Jr. FFA allows the member to participate in local meetings, limited judging contests, speaking contest, ag science fair and showing at major stock shows under the supervision of the Aledo Independent School District Agriculture Teachers. 8th grade students not enrolled in an agriculture science class will not be eligible to be a Junior FFA member due to AMS offering Principles of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources in the 8th grade. Any student wishing to be a part of the FFA in the 8th grade must be enrolled in an agriculture science class. Dues are due on October 4th, 2021.

National Junior Art Society
We are proud to announce that we will be participating in the National Junior Art Honor Society beginning this year. The National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. As members of NJAHS our students will be offered opportunities for leadership, national recognition, scholarships, and connectivity to over 58,000 members. I have included the application below. If you have additional questions, please contact Mrs. Shelton (ashelton@aledoisd.org).
Tell us about your experience with an Aledo ISD team member who is Growing Greatness!!
Lunch Deliveries
However, in the event that you need to deliver lunch to your student, please follow the steps below:
- Please be sure that the lunch is clearly labeled with your student's first and last name.
- Upon entering AMS, please place your student's lunch in the bin assigned to your student's lunch period. (For example, if your student has C Lunch, you will place the lunch in the C Lunch bin).
- The bins will be delivered the to the cafeteria at the start of each lunch period. Students will be responsible for getting their lunches from the bin.
Again, we request that you limit lunch deliveries when possible. Also, in order to limit distractions, we will not call students out of class to receive lunches.
Thank you for your help with this!
