The Wolf Howl

Week of 1/18/16

Club Sign Up

Be sure and access the Google Club sheet and submit your club choices for February by this weekend! As you are submitting your idea, please take a look at the other ideas that have already been submitted to make sure that there are lots of different choices for our kids. Also, get in the mind of a middle school student and think about what they would enjoy doing for an extracurricular club. For example, based on past clubs we know our kids like computers, coding, cooking, dancing, engineering, challenges, crafts, service projects that deal outside the school, and any type of sport or movement. They have not been responsive to poetry, writing, specialized clubs like travel club or stamp collecting, or CTMS service projects except for the popular Buddy Club.

Remember that if two of you sponsor one club, you must be able to house 40 students in your group; otherwise, we don't have enough club spots for 800 Wolves. If you don't prefer large groups, then you might want to do a club alone.

Thank you for all you do for our Wolves!

Open House 2.1 -- THE CTMS SHOWCASE

A new look for Open House - now called the CTMS Showcase!

A new date: February 23, 2016

A new time: fifth grade parents 6:00 - 7:00

Other parents: 7:00 - 8:00

Different locations within CTMS: not your individual classrooms unless you are a singleton.

Stay tuned for more details of this exciting change that we are making to the traditional Open House!

PTA Needs Assessment Grants

Do you need something instructional for your room? Does you team have an innovative idea that needs funding? The PTA Needs Assessment Grant is an opportunity for you or your team to get some funds from PTA!

Please see Stephanie for a PTA Needs Assessment Grants form. Forms are due next Friday, January 22.

Hallway Monitoring

Don't forget to monitor the hallways between classes as much as possible. I know the configurations of the rooms makes it difficult to be monitoring your classrooms as well as hallways. Maybe you and your neighbor could take turns watching classes and watching the hallways.

We have had several incidents that have occurred in hallways that would have been prevented had adults been watching. It is getting into spring already, and we need to proactively manage mischief! Thanks for helping!

Upcoming Benchmarks

Our Math and Reading benchmarks will be given school wide to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders on Tuesday, February 9 (math) and Thursday February 11 (reading). We will be running an alternative schedule on those days to give us four hour testing windows each day. Everyone will be a test proctor, small group administrator, hall monitor, or have other testing task on that morning. Mark your calendars! These tests will give us great data regarding students' skills and stamina as we go into the spring testing season.
