Hybrid Schedule:

AA/BB: The AA/BB schedule will be implemented as follows:

  • Fundamentally, students will participate in live instruction, three days per week – two will be in person, and one will be through remote learning.
    • Ex. If they are an “A-Day” student, they would attend on Monday and Tuesday. If they are a “B-Day” student, they will attend on Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays will be reserved for remote learning for all students.
On the remaining two days of the week, instruction will continue for all students. Through the District’s gradual release instructional framework, students will participate in continuous learning experiences which will be facilitated through a variety of approaches determined by individual schools or teachers. Notwithstanding the selected approach, all BCSD students will receive the same number of guaranteed instructional minutes. Additionally, instructional pacing will be adjusted to ensure that students are exposed to academic material consistently across grade levels.

We will not be able to accommodate students prior to 8:15am, unless you have registered for morning care below. Morning care may be available for families, beginning at 7:45am. Drop offs cannot happen prior to 8:15am, unless you are enrolled in morning care, and due to capacity issues, no random drop offs may take place. Interested in morning care? Please complete the survey below and we will be in touch with those families:

Students will be required to wear a mask (no neck gaiters allowed) during the school day, aside from when they are eating, as masks are required (by both County Ordinance and by policy) in the building.

Absences: Parent notes or medical excuses for days where students miss class (for virtual or when we return to traditional) can be scanned and emailed to Ina.Rollins@beaufort.k12.sc.us This does take a few days to turn around, so please be patient.

Food Service

All district students – virtual learners as well as those resuming face-to-face instruction – will still be able to get free meals, and family income will not be a factor.

Beginning Monday, bus route meal distribution will cease as buses will be needed to transport hybrid students to school. Buses will run at a 60 percent student capacity in order to accommodate physical distancing recommendations as per DHEC. As a result, the fleet will be fully utilized.

Hybrid Students

Your child will receive meals during the two days of the week they are attending school and will also be provided meals for the remaining days of the week. Families of elementary students can pick up food for these additional days on Tuesdays or Fridays. Middle and high school families can pick up food from 9:00-11:00. on Tuesdays or Fridays, or it can be sent home with them.

SERG Group Reading Challenge

The SERG Group is starting their first ever, SERG Star Reader Challenge. Parents can pick up reading logs/flyers from any SERG restaurant, Outside Hilton Head, their school's front office (next week after we receive them), or print a copy from, https://serggroup.com/star-readers-challenge.

SERG Restaurant group is preparing to launch a STAR Reading Program for students K-12 to challenge them to read and log their hours between the dates of September 14th and November 20th. We hope to offer students and parents an additional fun reading and learning opportunity through rewards, no matter if they are in-person schooling, homeschooling, or virtual schooling. All readers can earn rewards for each reading star level they complete. Those who get all 5 stars will be entered to win one of three $1000 Future Scholar 529 Scholarships.

Here's How It Works:
Earn your 1st star and receive a stamp card by logging your first 5 hours read on the form. Redeem at Outside Hilton Head or any SERG Restaurant. Each time your complete another STAR Level Reading Log, visit your favorite SERG restaurant location.

1. Go to any SERG restaurant with your completed readers log and receive your SERG restaurant stamp. Star reader receives a $15 towards their meal and a stamp for their Star Reward.
2. Receive your next Star reading log, available at any SERG restaurant. You are now eligible for your Star Reward.
3. Receive your next star reading log and keep reading towards your next $15 SERG dining & Star Rewards!

Outside Hilton Head and Coastal Provisions have both signed on to sponsor the program. They have committed to rewards for pick up at their locations as well that include neck gaiters, SERG Star Reader Challenge t-shirt, 1 Hr paddleboard or kayak rental from Outside Hilton Head, and a $25 Coastal Provisions gift card. Once the reader has completed all 5 stars, turn in the completed 5-star reading log and the completed stamped card no later than November 20th to the SERG Takeout Kitchen to be entered to win $1000 Future Scholar 529 scholarships.
Students will be celebrated for redeeming their reading logs each time they reach their reading goal and there is no purchase necessary to participate. We hope that everyone enjoys the power of reading!
