Cathcart Returning to Normal School Operations for 2022-23

The Center for Disease Control and Snohomish County Health Department and Snohomish School District have published updated health procedures that allow Cathcart Elementary to return to normal school operations this year. We will continue to follow all health and safety guidelines, while returning to two school lunches, parent pick-up on campus, more parent volunteers…

School Buses

We strongly encourage families to have students use school buses to come to school and back home. Our campus has very limited car parking available.

Please be sure to check the Snohomish School District Transportation page for more information about bus routes and schedules.

Parent Morning Drop Off

In the morning, starting at 8:25am, parents can drop students off in the southwest parking lot. Ms. Melinda will continue to supervise student drop off. We ask that parents not park in this lot. If you are walking onto campus please park in the east parking lot and walk across the street. Yes, parents can walk onto the campus this year.

Parent Pick Up End of the School Day

We encourage students to take the school bus as much as possible please. If parents do pick up students it is important to know that we will not continue to have a supervised student pick up in the southwest parking circle like we did the last two years during COVID. We will return to parent pick up on campus.

Beginning at 3:05, we will excuse bus riders when the bus arrives. Our goal is to have school buses leave as close to the end of the school day at 3:15pm as possible. Once students are on buses, the teachers will walk students out to the playground and have them line up on the dots for parents to pick up. We will have several paraeducators and other staff members supervising the line up to help parents pick up their students. If you are picking up your child it is important to be on campus by a little before 3:15pm to safely pick up your student. Parents are responsible for supervising their child upon pick up.

Calling All Cathcart Parent Volunteers

Cathcart and the Cathcart Parent Organization aim to restart as many volunteer opportunities as possible this year. So many of our awesome community events like Science Fair, Plays, BINGO, Art Smart, Watchdogs were put on hold during the Pandemic. We will be doing our best to encourage Cathcart parents to get reconnected. Our first step will be to encourage Cathcart parents to sign up to participate in these events at our Cathcart Business Day on August 24th.

New Cathcart Security Fencing and Community Access to the School

Snohomish School District has upgraded security fencing at Cathcart this year. They will continue to add security gates in order to reduce the number of entrances to the school and allow for better school lockdowns in the event of an emergency. The goal is to have one main community entrance that allow the community to come onto campus from the entrance in front of the office.

School Breakfast and Lunch

Last year all school meals were free for all students. This federal program has ended and students will pay for breakfast and lunch for 2022-23. Of course, families can apply for free or reduced school meals if they qualify.

Back to School Supplies

Back-to-School supply lists were distributed to Cathcart in June. We have also attached the link below for your convenience.
