Panther Post
March 28 - April 1, 2016 - Serve, Lead & Inspire
Hello Lopez Families,
Over spring break we were notified that we are the first middle school in Texas, and the fourth in the world, to achieve Leader in Me Lighthouse status. This is a huge honor in the education world! It recognizes us for our outstanding service to students in building future leaders. This was accomplished through serious commitments from teachers, school leaders, the lighthouse team, parents and PTA, and most importantly the students. One of the things the monitors kept repeating was how well the students took control of their own learning and service, which was the main goal. I am so proud to be a Panther!
Right now our PTA is looking for officers to create their new Board. PTA always provides so much for our school in so many ways and we want that to continue. As kids move on to high school, so do the parents. To continue this great tradition of service here at Lopez, we need new people to sign-up. If you are willing to serve or just need more information before making a decision, please contact our current president, Donna Allen, at allenfam226@satx.rr.com. This is a great time to jump in there and get involved in the first Lighthouse middle school in Texas. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Show Off How You Sharpened the Saw Over Spring Break!!
Our students and parents work very hard, so hopefully you were able to take time for yourselves over Spring Break and "Sharpen the Saw."
We’d love to see how you spent your time! Please share any family photos of events or trips you took over the break. These can be every-day things you did, staycations, mini vacations, or any other getaways.
Please send your photos to Mr. Toback at ftobac@neisd.net or you can drop them off in an envelope marked “Sharpen the Saw Pictures” - Room A205. The pictures can be grayscale or color. We will display them in our "Sharpen the Saw" area for all to enjoy.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
