ROTARY SPEECH CONTEST
Imani Davis, CHS Junior, participated in the annual Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest. Representatives from all CUSD high schools gave 5-7 minute original speeches incorporating the questions associated with the 4-Way Test: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it BUILD GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Great job, Imani!
FCCLA- EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Three students qualified to represent Arizona at the FCCLA National Conference in Nashville, TN in June. Congratulations to sophomore Layla Alwaely, National Qualifier for Repurpose & Redesign, and a 2021 National FCCLA “Go for the Red” Awardee. Next, Kiara Wynn, CHS Sophomore, is a National Qualifier for Focus on Children. Finally, Adamaris Lopez Morales, CHS Junior, was elected AZ State Officer for 2021-2022, and is a National Qualifier for Chapter in Review. Great work!
FFA DISTRICT COMPETITION
CHS FFA did a tremendous job in Santan District competition, bringing home 26 medals! Congratulations to Ms. Kari Williams, Mr. AJ Arqueta, Ms. Kori Dorsey and the following students:
- Maya Schmerfeld won 1st for her Agriscience Fair project on floral media.
- Abigail Dominguez won 1st place for her 6-minute speech on misconceptions of agriculture on social media platforms.
- Jayden Miller won 3rd place in Extemporaneous Public Speaking on her 5 minute speech on the technology in the agriculture industry.
- Annabelle Williams placed 1st in the FFA Creed Competition, and Hailey Hutchison placed 2nd. Both Hailey and Annabelle will move on to the state competition in June.
- Conduct of Meeting placed 1st and presented a 13-minute presentation on parliamentary procedure. They will move on to the state competition. The Conduct Team included Annabelle Williams, Jena Forshee, Kate Rogers, Natalie Valliere, Sherlyn Valladares, Natalie Cunitz, Mady Newell, and Porter Fitzpatrick.
- Parliamentary Procedure Team won 1st and will move on to the state competition. Team A included Kaylie Gross, Chandra Andazola, Emma Martin, Ilsa Gooch, John Hicks, and Mason Courtney. Parli Pro B included Riana Alexander, Nick Salas, Ben Kubicki , Micheal Arias, Ricardo Tapia and Natalia Reyes.

Interested in trying out for CHS Spiritline? The pre-tryout meeting will be on April 27 at 5pm on google meets.
Spiritline tryouts will be held on May 3-7 at the cafeteria. The tryout packet and tryout information can be found on the chandler spiritline website. Packets can also be picked up at the athletic department.
AzSCI Field Test for Juniors Tomorrow
Tuesday April 27 will be AzSCI Field Test for Juniors! Testing is on computers, so if you would like to take advantage of the listening option, you must bring a NON-Blue Tooth listening device like earbuds that can plug into a computer. Testing starts at 7:25 am and your bus comes at the normal time in the morning. For everyone else, your bus comes 3 hours after the normal time and school starts at 10:25. You will be arriving AFTER lunch.

SENIOR CLASS MEETING – April 26th
CHS and COA seniors, if you were unable to attend the Senior Class Meeting, you can watch the pre-recorded video that includes important graduation information from Mr. Chandler regarding dates, times and other details you need to know leading up to graduation below.
CAPS, GOWNS & STOLE DISTRIBUTION – Thursday, May 6th
We are happy to announce that caps, gowns and NHS stoles will be distributed to seniors during school hours in the Payne Gym on May 6th. If you. If you missed the April 15th cap and gown ordering due date, Jostens has agreed that they will accept CASH ONLY on May 6th. The cost is $50.00. For qualifying NHS honors students, stoles can now be purchased in the bookstore until April 30th at a cost of $35.00. COA Students, please come to the Payne Gym between 12:00 – 2:30pm to pick up your cap, gown and/or stole.

Updated GRADUATION CEREMONY INFORMATION
We are very pleased to inform you that the District Office has informed us that we are now allowed to invite FOUR guests/senior to attend the graduation ceremony.
FOUR latex free wrist bands will be issued to seniors to distribute to their guests. The latex free wrist bands MUST be worn to obtain access to the Austin Field bleachers and will be strictly enforced.

GOVERNOR’S YOUTH COMMISSION
Applications for the Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC) are open. It is a competitive application process and open to 2021-2022 sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications are currently being accepted until May 7, 2021 at 5:00pm. Interested students are encouraged to apply now!

CHS TESTING SCHEDULE
What college or university will you be attending?
All Final Transcripts will be sent electronically through Parchment. To guarantee your final transcript will be sent to the college of your choice, you must set up your account and place your transcript “On Hold for the Next Grading Period”. For information on how to sign up see Ms. Milczarek in the Career Center or Mrs. Graffeo or Mrs. Ferguson in the Registrar’s office. After graduation you will be charged $8.50 per transcript.
Graduation: May 27th. 8pm on Austin field. If you are not planning to walk with the class of 2021 you must let Mrs. Graffeo or Mrs. Ferguson in the Registrar’s office know as soon as possible.

Project Unify Fundraiser
The Project Unify Booster Club is raising money for CHS Project Unify.
Project Unify promotes programs that build meaningful relationships and inclusive environments between students with intellectual disabilities and their non-disabled peers on campus and within the community. These programs include Unified Sports and Chandler Buddies. Funds raised will go to support activities, uniforms, meals, banquets, awards and much more!
