What's New This Week?

Language Arts

Our main story selection this week is titled Officer Buckle and Gloria, a fictional text. In Lesson 15 our Essential Question is “What might cause a story character to change?” Target skills are cause & effect, compound words, abbreviations, and the schwa vowel sound.

VERY EXCITING! We will have a real live "Officer Buckle and Gloria" come visit us this week. Officer Swenson and K-9 Max will be in to meet and speak with 2nd graders!

The spelling concept this week is compound words. Click here to go visit the Spelling City website: http://www.crsd.org/Page/16692

We will be completing Topic 9 this week and taking our test on Friday. Subtracting 2 digit numbers with regrouping can be very tricky, and we've been using our "Subtraction Rap" song to help us!

More on the top... no need to stop!

Number's the same ... zero's the game!

More on the floor ... go next door, and get 10 more!

I have noticed a slip in the number of students participating in this wonderful online activity! Please allow your child to spend a few minutes each week on your home computer and help him/her to strengthen math skills on different levels, as well as to provide enrichment. Thank you!www.firstinmath.com Congratulations to Eli, our First In Math winner from last week!
