From the Principal
Dear Parents,
By now I am sure you are aware that we will be taking an adaptive pause as a district after next week's classes. Our teachers are working hard to utilize this next week to prepare students for remote learning by getting them any supplies they might need during this pause. GOAL parents, if teachers are leaving items for students, they will let the student and/or parent know and you can pick up the items next Wednesday during the school day (8-3:30).
I was able to get into many classrooms this week, and continue to be amazed at what teachers are able to accomplish in the classroom. Teaching students in-person while other students are on Zoom is quite difficult and I was quite impressed with watching teachers navigate this new learning model. We know it is not an ideal way to teach, but they are definitely creating ideal lessons within current parameters. And, of course, our students continue to be adaptable to the different structures we have set up for them.
As we move to remote, there are some things you as parents can do to support the learning:
- Make sure students have a space for learning. A desk or table is ideal. Students should feel that the space they are learning is "different" from the rest of the day.
- Make sure students have supplies available to them. Perhaps a container of pencils, markers, post-its, etc on the desk/table would help. If you need help gathering supplies, please reach out.
- Provide students with headphones/earbuds to help drown out other noises and allow them to concentrate.
- Allow students opportunities to exercise and stay active. This will be difficult during the winter, but walks can still happen (just bundle up!).
Please remember to reach out if you need anything.
Sincerely,
Jason Kaiz
