WC Is Proud to Host Author, Sandy Sotzen on April 19th!
Two Assemblies for students during the school day: Grades 3-5:9am, and Grades K-2:10am
From: Sandy Sotzen, Author
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sandy Sotzen and I am
first and foremost a parent of two amazing sons, the youngest of whom has
severe Autism. I am also a recently retired Special Education Teacher of
36 years and am fortunate enough to have had my first book published
which is entitled, Why Do They Do That? My book creates an opportunity
for adults (parents, teachers, caregivers, etc.) to have conversations with
children on why people might look or act differently than them. The topic is
timeless, the message is clear, be kind to everyone you meet!
I will be making an author’s visit to Wolf’s Crossing on Wednesday, April
19th. If you would like to order a signed copy of the book for your child to
bring home that day, please complete the attached form and have your
child return it to their teacher by Tuesday, April 18th. I look forward to
meeting the students and staff at Wolf’s Crossing Elementary School!
Sincerely,
Sandy Sotzen, M.Ed.
Do you or someone you know have an incoming kindergartner? Registration date added: 4/12!

WATCH DOGS SIGN-UP
Thank you to those who have already registered! Please sign up for an upcoming date if you can. We love having our dads join us at WC!
Wolf's Crossing WATCH D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students)
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that helps bring dads and other male role models into the school. Dads spend a day with their child at school and get to interact alongside the educators to help with lunchroom helpers, playground and gymnasium helpers. The possibilities are endless and the experiences will last a lifetime.
The two primary goals of the program are:
*To provide positive male role models who, by their very presence, show a respect for the importance of education.
*To enhance school security and reduce bullying.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Any male father figure in the student's lives is asked to spend part of their day at their student’s school volunteering. We will be having Watch D.O.G.S. at the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Fridays. (maximum of 4 D.O.G.S. per day)
(The adult needs to be a current and existing contact in the child's TYLER portal for security reasons)

“A Book is a Present You Can Open Again and Again”
The Wolf’s Crossing Birthday Book Club is fun way to celebrate your child’s birthday and fill our library with great books for all students to enjoy. In honor of your child’s birthday (or half birthday), we invite you to donate a book of your choosing to our school library. Your child can choose to donate their favorite picture book (hardcover), chapter book, or non-fiction book (hardcover).
It’s as easy as 1-2-3
Donate
Simply purchase a book (hard cover only) to donate to the LRC and have your child bring the book and Birthday Book Club form to school at least 2 weeks before their birthday to the LRC. You may pick from our Amazon Book Wishlist, if you want some ideas of books our library needs.
Not sure what title to donate? Let us choose for your child! Send in $15 (the average cost of a hardback book) and we will purchase a new book for them. Your child may suggest a book they have wanted to read or we can help choose a new title that our library needs.
Celebrate
We will place a commemorative sticker with your child’s name in the front of the book.
Your child gets to be the first one to check out the book from the LRC.
A picture of your student with their book will be shared on the Wolf’s Crossing Facebook Page and the Wolfs Crossing Lrc Wolverines Facebook Page to also celebrate.
Joy!
As the year passes, your child will enjoy seeing other students check out “their” book from the LRC.
If you would like to join the Birthday Book Club, please complete the Birthday Book Club form and return it to the Wolf’s Crossing LRC with a book of your choosing or your check for $15 as soon as possible. Please make checks payable to Wolf’s Crossing Elementary. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mahoney, LRC Specialist at 630-636-3703 or email at cmahoney@sd308.org .
Thank you for supporting our Library!
