Summer Shutdown Memo From Dr. Cook
Message Re: Laptops From Mr. Z
Good Morning! As we are quickly approaching the end of this school year, I wanted to share the date that has been established by Mrs Lowdermilk and myself to collect and turn-in student computers. I will begin collecting devices on Friday, May 24th. This will give me time to clean, inspect and send any damaged devices off for service before we’re out for the summer. Some of these devices may also be used to complete MAPS testing in lower grades.
Those of you with carts, I’ll be collecting the entire cart and moving it out of your room. For those of you with lockers, I will make a schedule for you guys to have your students carry their device to the Media Center for turn-in.
Thanks, Dave Zazzara
New SS Standards Information
We are excited the South Carolina Social Studies College- and Career-Ready Standards have been approved now for all grades, K-12.
Next year, 2019-2020 will a be bridge year for Rock Hill Schools as we learn the new standards and create new curriculum maps and other resources for assessment and instruction.
We will fully implement the new social studies standards the following year, 2020-2021.
In addition, many of you have asked about testing in social studies for next year. At this point, we still do not know, but I will make you aware as soon as I receive word from the SCDE.
From Sara Sawczuk
Friday, May 17th will be the last day that I can allow students to check out books and ALL books will need to be returned to the library by Friday, May 24th. I know this will make a lot of kiddos unhappy, but I’ve got to be able to do an inventory of my collection before the end of the year.
Please, please encourage our students to return their books as the final due date approaches. I need all the help I can get! I’ll begin sending out overdue notices after the May 24th deadline has passed.
