WHAT'S HAPPENING IN 5TH GRADE?

Fifth Grade Science STAAR

This Wednesday, May 11th, is the fifth grade Science STAAR. We always remind the students to go to bed early the night before and eat a big, healthy breakfast. We know our students will do great!

Important Reminders for the STAAR Test in the Building

Next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, CES will be administering the STAAR test in the third, fourth, and fifth grade. The campus will be closed to all visitors. No parent volunteers will be allowed on those days and parents may not eat lunch with their child. We will see you on the 12th.

5th Grade Slide Show

5th grade parents have been notified via Shutterfly to submit pictures for the 5th grade slide show, which is a highlight of 5th grade graduation. The deadline to submit pictures is May 9.

5TH GRADE FIELD TRIP to MAIN EVENT

Fifth grade will be taking its final field trip to Main Event in Grapevine on Tuesday, May 31st. The $20 fee includes bowling, laser tag, a $10 arcade card, and pizza for lunch. Students are to bring (or wear) socks for bowling and may bring additional spending money. Although chaperones are not requested for this trip, parents are welcome to stop by Main Event for some of the fun.

IPad Reminders

Students that are currently taking their iPads home daily, please remember your signed Trust Card:



  • iPads must return to school EACH DAY and fully charged.
  • Apps are not to be loaded without teacher approval!

Below is information for your 5th grade students if they are interested in ordering gym clothes through CTMS. These athletic clothes are optional. Students may wear any CTMS shirt (or gray solid shirt) and black shorts.

CURRICULUM CORNER

Reading: We will finish our novel study of Number the Stars and assess comprehension. The students will also participate in Reading Workshop.


Language Arts: The students will finish up their End Of Year narrative assessment. The last spelling test of the year is May 19th.


Social Studies: We will begin WWII. Causes of, battles, strategies, locations, important people, weapons, etc. will be discussed.


Math: We will be applying our knowledge of area and perimeter by designing a home.


Science: We will begin our PBL with research on Biomes.

2016-2017 Kindergarten Registration and Round Up

Kindergarten Registration for the 2016-2017 school year will begin on Monday, April 25, and run through the end of May. Please spread the word in the community, so that we have all of our incoming kindergarten students registered and ready to go for next year!
