Ennis ISD Students Compete at Regional Science Fair
Although none of the projects placed or advanced to the State Science Fair, Ennis ISD was well represented by students from Ennis High School and Ennis Junior High!
Lauren Carl was named Honorable Mention at the Regional Science Fair. She competed against over 500 students from all over the Region to earn this distinction. Congratulations Lauren!
Isaiah Nies Advances to State in Powerlifting
Earlier this week, Ennis High School senior Isaiah Nies set four regional records at the Region 3 Powerlifting Championships hosted by Longview Pinetree High School: squat, 730lbs; bench, 405lbs; deadlift, 665lbs; total, 1800lbs. He was also able to match a personal best in his squat and reach a new personal best in deadlift. Along with setting these records, Isaiah placed 1st in his weight class, qualifying him for the state meet in Abilene later this month. Isaiah was also awarded the best squat, best bench, best deadlift, and the best total of the meet.
Congratulations to Isaiah, the Ennis Powerlifting Team, and the coaches on an incredible season thus far!
Ennis Women's Powerlifting Advances to State in First Year Competing
Ennis High School senior Leah Harris set a regional record at the Region 3 Powerlifting Championships earlier this week with her 210lb bench press. Leah's overall total in the squat (315lbs), bench press (210lbs), and deadlift (325lbs) awarded her a 2nd place finish in her weight class. Leah will travel to Waco on March 21st to represent the Ennis Lions at the State Powerlifting Meet. This makes her the first female powerlifter at Ennis High School to qualify for the State Meet and hold the Regional Record for the Bench Press!
Freshman Lindsay McManus also competed in the Regional meet earlier this week. While she began the meet ranked 12th in her weight class, she ended the day finishing in 7th place, knocking off several competitors ranked higher than her at the beginning of the meet.

EHS Art Students Advance to State for the First Time at The Visual Art Scholastic Event
Last month, Ennis High School art students traveled to MacArthur High School to compete at The Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE). Over 3000 pieces of art from over a dozen different schools were featured at VASE. Out of these 3000 pieces, three Ennis High School Students are advancing to the state competition in April.

Ennis Junior High School Math Teacher Featured on NBC DFW's "Carter in the Classroom"
Jennifer Bailey, math teacher at Ennis Junior High School, was featured on NBC DFW's "Carter in the Classroom" earlier this month! Check out the article and video below to see how Mrs. Bailey is using technology in her classroom to help students master their math lessons!
Ennis ISD Elementary Students Compete in Sodexo Future Chefs Challenge
Now in its third year at Ennis ISD, the Sodexo Future Chefs Challenge encourages healthy eating habits by actively involving students in good nutrition. This year, six elementary school students accepted the challenge to create healthy recipes that children and adults will enjoy. After a very close competition, the judges awarded the 2020 Gold Medal to Colin Bailey, a 2nd grader at Austin Elementary, for his Greek-Style Beef Pita Sandwiches with Tzatziki Sauce. Congratulations Colin!
Ennis Junior High Choirs Compete at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest
Earlier this week, the Ennis Junior High Choirs competed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest hosted by Irving High School. Both choirs earned a rating of Excellent on stage and a rating of Superior in Sight Reading.
Congratulations to Mr. Gadberry and all Junior High Choir Students on an incredible contest day!
