Ennis Women's Powerlifting Advances to State in First Year Competing

Ennis High School senior Leah Harris set a regional record at the Region 3 Powerlifting Championships earlier this week with her 210lb bench press. Leah's overall total in the squat (315lbs), bench press (210lbs), and deadlift (325lbs) awarded her a 2nd place finish in her weight class. Leah will travel to Waco on March 21st to represent the Ennis Lions at the State Powerlifting Meet. This makes her the first female powerlifter at Ennis High School to qualify for the State Meet and hold the Regional Record for the Bench Press!

Freshman Lindsay McManus also competed in the Regional meet earlier this week. While she began the meet ranked 12th in her weight class, she ended the day finishing in 7th place, knocking off several competitors ranked higher than her at the beginning of the meet.
