The percentage of obese teens are at a staggering high. Many teens aren't looking out for their heath and what they eat. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, it is stated that almost one in three teens are considered to be obese. That's thirty-three percent of all people ages six-nineteen. While nineteen percent of boys are considered to be obese, compared to fifteen percent of girls.
Health Effects of Obesity
Being obese gives a person a much higher chance of getting many types of diseases, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some diseases are diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and several types of cancer. All these diseases can lead to premature death.
A reason to why teens are obese
There are many reasons why teens could be obese. As stated by the United States department of Agriculture, one reason is that healthy foods are more expensive. Many parents might not be able to afford healthier foods all the time, leaving teens to eat the calorie dense foods.
Depression and Experimentation
Being obese can mean having a hard time finding friends. Any social factors can lead to depression, which is a very dangerous state for a person. Some people become drug addicts, or alcoholics. Using drugs or alcohol would make their health even worse than it was originally

Many times obesity leads them to dangerous paths such as drugs and alcohol. Obesity is a serious matter and should be solved as soon as possible.
