Gratz Brown News
November 3, 2018
From the Principal's Desk
End of First Quarter has come and gone. We want to thank all of you for coming to see us during Parent Teacher Conferences last month. Other big dates we have coming up are Mid-Quarter and Thanksgiving Break. Then before we know it, the Winter will be upon us and time for Christmas Break.
These weeks will fly by, so please do clip the calendar at the bottom of this newsletter to stay up to date on all the happenings in our District and GBE. We will continue to have Spartan Tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays up to our break this winter. If any dates change that are a part of our calendar we will try to send out an alert or Remind to make you aware.
We look forward to continue our learning and teaching through these seasons with your kiddos. If you have any questions about the calendar or their learning please do reach out.
Have a Great November Everyone!!

Title I News and Tips
Fun Fact: Children learn an average of 4,000 to 12,000 new words each year as a result of book reading. (Scholastic: Classroom Libraries Work!)
As your child is reading at home, here are some open-ended questions to help figure out if they are comprehending what they read:
What happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the story?
What was the problem of the story? How was it solved?
How did the setting affect the story?
How would you describe one of the characters from the book?
Would you want (character name) for a friend? Why or why not?
What do you think is the most important thing that happened? Why do you think it was important?
