The Job of the Leader is to Speak to the Possibility!

Big picture
Mr. Villamaino and I are fully embracing the change this year with the addition of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. We already enjoy getting to know them and have had some good conversations about their hopes for this year. There are many possibilities that exist and we promise to explore them all so all our students have a fun and memorable year filled with lots of opportunities for leadership, learning, and growth.

Green Meadows School Pride

School pride and spirit are important to us at Green Meadows School (GMS). Be on the lookout for information regarding school spirit wear. Our school colors are blue and gold so we will be sure to include those colors in the design of our t-shirts, sweatshirts and other gear. Stay tuned!

Andrew's Day of Support: September 14, 2018

Say hello to Andrew Stark!

Andrew is a fourth grade student at Green Meadows. He was diagnosed with leukemia in September of 2013. Andrew is a smart, kind, caring boy with a great smile and fun sense of humor. Andrew is now in remission and has been since 2015 . Whoo hoo! The month of September was particularly sad for Andrew and his family but they decided to do something a bit different and change the way they thought about that day Andrew was diagnosed and turn it into something POSITIVE. During the early days of Andrew's diagnosis, they received overwhelming love, kindness, and support from family, friends, and strangers. With Andrew's help, the Stark Family came up with a great idea and way to pay forward all the kindness and love they received. They now celebrate September 14th and refer this day as "Andrew's Day of Support". On this day, the Stark Family asks others to "Do Small Things With Great Love". Green Meadows School is very excited to help out by collecting new TOYS to donate to Baystate Children's Hospital. The toy drive will begin on "Andrew's Day of Support: September 14, 2018" and run through Friday, September 28th. Thank you in advance for your support.

PK-8 Arrival and Dismissal

Parent drop-off for students in grades K-8 begins at 8:15 a.m. Our preschool students start just a bit later at 8:30 a.m. PreK pick-ups have a "hot pink" PK sign to help identify these cars and make sure they are in the PreK pick-up line and not the K-8 line. So far, this looks to be working pretty great! At the end of the day, our preschool students are dismissed a bit earlier at 2:30 p.m. Parents of students in grades K-8 should plan to arrive at Green Meadows for parent pickup at 2:45 p.m. or a couple minutes later. This will help minimize your wait and allow a clearer path for our buses. Parents, please also be mindful as you are leaving the Green Meadows parking lot and buses are just arriving. Staff may need to kindly ask you to wait a brief moment to allow the buses into the school parking. We do appreciate your attention to this and patience as we work towards making our procedures as as safe and efficient as possible. Thank you!

Whose car is that?

Parents of students who will be permanent pick-ups will soon be given a "number" to place on the dash of their windshield at parent pick-up. This will help staff quickly identify which car is picking up which child. We hope this will help move along our pick-up line quickly. More detailed information to come.
