Tauranga Primary School
Tauranga Primary School appreciates the support of the Lion Foundation, who provide funding for our Sport Co-ordinator role.
Jo's Sport Talk
TPS summer sports teams are now all in full swing. Remember that children play sport for enjoyment and that winning is only part of the fun, so praise effort and performance over results.
Please know that I am always happy to share photos and news about any team or individual sporting successes with our school community.
The websites below are very helpful for information about each sport. Remember that the draw is also posted each week on the TPS sports noticeboard, situated outside the school library.
Playing dates for Term 1 sport, and websites for draws and cancellations
Rippa Rugby - Friday 19th February to Friday 26th March
Flippaball - Tuesday 16th February to Tuesday 6th April
Kiwi Volleyball - Friday 12th February to Friday 16th April
Junior Cricket - Saturday 13th February to Saturday 27th March
Fast Football - Tuesday 16th February to Tuesday 13th April
Athletes must wear their TPS school shorts and TPS PE top to these sports (they can also wear these tops to our TPS sport and inter-school events. The PE tops can be purchased from the school office for $26.50.
JUNIOR SPLASH and DASH
The junior school kick started the sports calendar this week with the annual "Splash and Dash". The race included a run and swim, but the best part was definitely the finale, a slippery slide towards the finish line! Well done to all the children for finishing the course.
Other School Sport Opportunities:
Go Girls Cricket Programme is on Thursday 18th February, 25th February and 4th March. These sessions take place on the school field 8:00am - 8:40am, they are free, and are available to any Year 4-6 girls who are willing to learn more about cricket and improve their skills. All those involved will have the opportunity to compete in the BOP Cricket Girls Rainbow Cup in March. Email me your daughter's name if they are interested, or simply turn up on Thursday mornings.
There are other school sports events this term, including the Pahoia School Triathlon on Sunday 28th February, and the BOP Primary School Golf Championships on Friday 26th March. Although we are not entering a school team, if you are interested in your child competing, please email me for further information.
