Need to Know: "I Can Be a Leader Who Goes First"
The concept of “leaders go first” can seem counterintuitive when we read things like “the first will be last”. Looking at the Deborah can give us some more accurate insight. A little backstory: Israel had again revolted from the Lord and was being oppressed by King Jabin. Deborah was a prophetess who had inspiration from the Spirit of God and shared what He said to his people. She consults with Barak to tell him what the Lord has said to defeat (You can read it all here in Judges 4).
What did Deborah do, really?
- She listened to the voice of God.
- She begged for wisdom & shared it with others.
- She relied on the Lord moment by moment.
- She worked in team and served her authority.
- She reminded those around her, “Hasn’t the Lord gone before you?”
What should this mean for me?
- You can walk forward in confidence & boldness of anything the Lord has told you! Going first looks like responding immediately to what Jesus is telling you.
How are you going first in your serving team?
- How can you go first in having a positive attitude and setting the tone for the environment you're in?
- How can you go first in welcoming new people to the team?
- How can you go first in serving your other team members?
- How can you go first in sharing what Jesus is speaking to you?
- How can you go first in praying for the people & the kids you see each Sunday?
Pray through these things, talk to your team about it, and share what this looks like for you!
Hear What's Next for NewSpring- July 21 @ 6:30pm at the TDCC
God is doing something great at NewSpring, and we want you to be one of the first to hear some news. We’re getting the whole church together on Friday, July 21 at 6:30pm for NewSpring Leadership Night.
Our leadership team spent the last year praying and seeking God’s will for the future of our church. At this event, they’ll share how NewSpring will be structured moving forward. We’d also love to answer your questions about where we’re headed or what we have experienced over the past year. What do you want to know? Email us at questions@newspring.cc.
A quick note for parents: Because we want all of our volunteers to be able to attend NewSpring Leadership Night, childcare will not be provided. We recommend getting a sitter as we expect this event to last approximately 90 minutes.
Prayer
This Sunday we talked about prayer and about how God designed prayer to be the thing that changes us! You get the opportunity to pray with your team every single week & share prayer requests with them. Our KidSpring staff would also love to know how we can pray for you personally! Feel free to let us know if you have a prayer request here.
