Elective Options- Incoming 6th Graders
Some of your students came home with a music selection form where you were asked to choose whether your child would take Band, Choir, or Both as a 6th grader. If you would like to have your student placed in Band or Choir, you need to return those selection forms to your child's 5th grade teacher.
If you choose to not take Band or Choir as a 6th grader, students will be placed in 8 rotational electives throughout the school year including: Art, STEM, PE, Library Instruction, and Success Academy.
Elective Options- Incoming 5th Graders
All 5th graders will have elective choices including: PE, Art, Success Academy, Library Instruction, General Music- Instrumental, General Music-vocal, and STEM.
Students will not take Band or Choir until their 6th grade year. However, students will decide as incoming 5th graders whether they might be interested in taking Band or Choir as a 6th grader. Mrs. Wessel will be visiting all 4th graders next week and will ask them to determine their interest in Band or Choir for their 6th grade year.
Students who mark interest in Band will take a General Music class with an instrumental focus in 5th grade. Alternatively, students who mark interest in Choir will take a General Music class with a vocal focus in 5th grade. Students are not required to take a General Music if they have no interest in being in Band or Choir as a 6th grader.
