PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
TRIMESTER 1 REPORT CARDS will be issued on Friday, December 7
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES will be held Tuesday, December 11 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Thursday, December 13, from 1:30 to 3:30PM.
GWS uses the PTCFAST online conference scheduling program. This program allows parents to be in charge of their conference schedule and provides greater equity in terms of parent accessibility to teachers.
Access to online conference sign-ups begins on Friday, December 7, at 3:30PM. If you cannot make an appointment at this time, please contact your child’s teacher directly to make other arrangements to speak.
Accessing PTCFAST.com:
- Click on the PTCFAST link, http://ptcfast.com/schools/Governor_Winslow_School
- A list of all teachers (by grade) will be displayed.
- Click on the names of your child’s teachers with whom you wish to conference.
- Enter the required information (child’s and parent’s name and email)
- You will then receive an email with the subject header “Select Date/Time for Teacher Conference Now”
- Click on the link in this email and select conference dates and times.
- PTCFAST.com will send you an email confirmation. This email will provide instructions if you need to change or cancel your appointment. Be sure to save this email, as you will need it to access your schedule.
Join us as "GWS Gives Back" this holiday season!
- Contribute to COATS FOR KIDS by donating a new or gently used coat (both kids and adult sizes). Coats can be brought to the coat rack in the lobby.
- You can also make a financial donation to the SILVER GIVING TREE, which will benefit Marshfield Community Christmas and the Marshfield Food Pantry. Feel free to bring in cash or checks made payable to Governor Winslow School.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to donate food for parent teacher conferences. It is very kind and generous during this busy time of year.
UNDER THE LINDEN TREE
Under the Linden Tree is an annual publication, unique to GWS, presenting the writings of our students. This volunteer effort and PTO-supported magazine publishes original stories, poems, songs, plays, essays and other creative written works submitted by GWS students. It is a wonderful chance for your student(s) to express their creative writing and have it published in a REAL journal that will be a forever keepsake in your home!
Parents/guardians/teachers are encouraged to submit any work or assist the student in brainstorming a new piece, getting their original ideas down on paper whenever this is appropriate. Dictation is perfectly fine, as long as the words are the child’s. Each author may submit multiple written pieces per edition; accompanying artwork is optional. If artwork is included, please follow the guidelines on the submission form carefully to ensure the best reproduction. All pieces are published as submitted, therefore editing and proofreading are the responsibility of the child and the parent/guardian.
Please email submissions to gwslindentree@gmail.com.
Our submission deadline is Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
Your emailed submission is the permission to publish authorization; no additional signed forms are necessary. If you are unable to submit electronically, please have your student drop the hard copy of the piece, along with a signed submission form including contact information, into the hollow of the Linden Tree in the front lobby. Click HERE for a Submission Form
Any questions, please contact Nicole Afanasiw at gwslindentree@gmail.com
ColorCycle Program: Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That’s why we launched Crayola ColorCycle. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect and repurpose used Crayola markers.
Collection boxes will be available in the school lobby and in each classroom.
EARN MONEY FOR GWS AS YOU CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSETS!
Put your unwanted items to good use by dropping them in our textiles recycling bin, located in our parking lot near the trash dumpsters. Ninety-five percent of all textiles can be recycled.
The following can be donated as long as they are clean & dry: clothing, shoes, pocketbooks, table linens, bed linens, draperies, throw rugs, and stuffed animals. Please place your items in plastic bags so that they will stay dry.
GWS will earn $100 for every ton of textiles placed in our recycling bin.
