A Message from the Principal

Dear PVES Families,

With our first marking period behind us and fall in full swing it's a great time to check in with each other! We hope to see all our families at Parent Conferences on the 5th of this month! We realize that SeeSaw, Class Dojo and email make communication between home and school quite easy but there's no replacement for face to face interactions between you and your child's teacher. If you have not already set up a conference time with your child's teacher or cannot join us on Monday the 5th, please try to set a time to do so in the near future. These conversations are valuable as the partnership between school and home is critical. Further, the message it sends to our students around the value of school is so important. We hope to see you in our building soon!

I could not be happier with the involvement we are seeing in or after-school clubs! We have several going right now - our Panther Strenght Club/Fitness Club, Confidence Club, Pinnacle and then also our Crazy 8s Math Club! I will be starting coding club after school in November or early December open to 3rd -5th graders as well! Keep an eye out for information on that if it's something you think your student may be interested in. We are loving providing options for our students after school and are so grateful that families are taking advantage! Thank you!

I wish you and yours a happy and healthy November. I thank you for all you do to support your student(s) and support Pleasant Valley. Our work together is so important and I value you as partners. Reach out any time with questions or concerns.

Important Bus Information

It's important for all families to be at their stop at the designated time. Our drivers cannot wait for families who are waiting inside their homes, beep their horns to notify you of their arrival, etcetera. This throws the timing off for all other families and makes for inconsistent route times.

We understand we have had a complicated start to the school year bus-wise and do appreciate your understanding as our transportation office has worked through this. All PVES buses now have permanent drivers. Feel free to address questions to your drivers or contact the school.

Thanks to our PTO, Students and School Community for Another Successful Fun Run!

We raised a little over $4,000 for our PTO! The school spirit was amazing, the weather was beautiful and a great time was had by all! Thank you to all who attended, supported and worked to make this event possible!

SCA News

Our next SCA Spirit Day will be Tie Dye Day on Friday, November 16th.

Daylight Savings Time Ends November 4th. Don't forget to set your clocks back!

Thank you to all our Dads, Granddads and Male Guardians who came and joined us on October 15th for our Donuts with Dads event! The turnout was AMAZING! If you have not yet completed a form to be on our email list in order to sign up to be in our building/your child(ren)'s classroom for a day. It's not too late! Contact Dawn Carcamo at . We are excited to have this program in place!

What's Going on at PVES?

Students in Mrs. Clark's class were able to explore various habitats that they have been learning about using Google Expeditions and virtual reality headsets. Students enjoyed exploring forests, oceans, deserts, and Antarctica. It was an exciting and fun experience! If you have a second grader - ask them about it!

Mrs. Coverstone's third grade classroom was transformed into a football-like setting in order to teach students both punctuation and math! Students used different hand signals for various punctuation marks and punctuated sentences together in order to understand appropriate punctuation! They earned "money" and were able buy things at the stadium concession stand provided but had to figure out correct change, etc. Memories, real world experiences and movement make learning authentic, fun and engaging!

Mrs. Rhodes' class was given a STEM Challenge in which they had to design a bridge using only Q tips, 10 Popsicle sticks, tape and pipe cleaners. It had to then hold up as many small candy pumpkins as possible. The collaboration, conversations and creativity as these students processed through their design briefs and engineered their bridges were incredible! Great job first grade!
